I could see that working. But my guess is that Homeland wants to follow it's season 4 and 5 formula of completely wiping the slate clean at the start of the following season. In many ways, I think it has worked quite well and helped the show move on from the Brody story that became such heavy baggage. But it is a

Dennis makes a good observation — the show that was initially shown as an 'All In The Family' ripoff is developing into something that is both deeper, and darker. I think the show's outlook is in perfect keeping with Bill Burr's outlook — "Jesus everything is so fucked up… but I guess there are some silver linings and

I have to admit I laughed heartily at the singer threatening to stop the show if anyone threw something (calling the audience "cunts" in a deep English accent)… then predictably getting crushed with a beer bottle.

I agree that she has been underdeveloped. I will disagree that there's nothing interesting about her. She has a bit of a maniacal, anarchic streak. (Rolling down the hill in a barrel and wanting to do it again, jumping off a roof, putting herself in danger to spite Bill, and all the wacky demands over her Halloween

Like most mere mortals, I haven't been able to screen The Revenant yet to determine if the movie does the trailer hype justice. But I will say I emphatically agree with it as the number one selection; it has me as excited as any trailer I can remember in a long time.

I agree that Allison's story got short-shrift. I understand why it ended; the only other choice was to drag her arc out as a turncoat agent on the run, being pursued and/or being a thorn in the CIA's side. But that's some pretty hokey Hollywood stuff (which Homeland's not totally above, but mostly avoids). I guess it

I've said before around these parts that I don't subscribe to the "hate Michael Moore because he's a loudmouth know-it-all" school of liberal criticism. (Much of the time, like Walter, he's not WRONG — he's just kind of an asshole about it.) I appreciate that beneath his smugness and blatant appeals to emotion via

I really liked this episode. Frank's a misogynist a-hole and Sue's fighting back. Modernity! Plenty of fun family-centric humor. I really love the precocious Maureen — maybe it's because she reminds me of my own strong-willed younger sister. Well done, F Is For Family writing-team.

I think it's hilariously ironic that the AV Club had Dowd review the new Star Wars. I wonder if it was some type of punishment.

The Force Awakens Spoiler Space; you will never find a more wretched hive of apologists and haters in all the A.V. Club.

Just because it's a device that mighties your penis doesn't mean it works miracles.

MY MOTHER'S A WHORE!

Most Americans […] are a big dumb waste of
time.

That's not what 53 percent of the people I polled said.

YOUR MOTHER'S A WHORE!

It's nearly impossible there's any commenter/reader here who will agree with the exact outcome of all the lists (especially given the Mad Max Best/Most Overrated situation). But the results are very solid and I think speaks to the overall good taste around here. Great Job, A.V. Club Readership!

I'm always bemused when something that ends up being decent or even good was made to look horrible by a trailer. It's like, "Were you trying to get people to just ignore this without giving it a try? If so, mission accomplished."

Yeah, it's obvious this show was done on a budget. If it gets another run, maybe the quality improves. (Think of early Simpsons or Family Guy and how the visual quality improved over the years.)

Ditto. (Two episodes in.)

… and A Most Violent Year. But that's another artsy indie that mainstreamers didn't see.
