God dammit that never is not funny.

Let's be honest; not reporting this story at the AV Club was the only way it wasn't going to get out of hand.

Yeah, the third one was a bloated mess. They had to split it into two films.

Mein Kampf: all good. The Hunger Games: a bridge too far. Stay vigilant, do-gooder parents of America!

Awkward nudity and sex scenes or GTFO.

"I don't know how to make this work!"
"That's not what your mother said last night!"
Snide little shits.

Seriously, how can you bill yourself as the leader in digital reader content (Kindle), but can't figure out how to build a functional and aesthetically adequate interface for reading graphic content? So, yes, fire the person(s) responsible. Then burn them. And desecrate the corpses.
… or just buy your competition who

Great. I didn't want to have any choices as to how I read digital comics anyway.

Wasn't a fan of either, but to each their own.

It's a legit/serious role, but not sure it qualifies as good, mainly because the movie's so bad (IMO).

Final addendum: my intent wasn't to dump on Nic Cage with this topic. I was just sort of spitballing off the top of my head after several beers. I enjoy his good-badness/bad-goodness/good-goodness as much as anyone.

Fair enough. You can probably chalk up the nuttiness more to Werner Herzog's quirkiness than Cage's, in that movie.

Thanks, also forgot about The Weather Man and Lord of War. I'd add those to the Leaving Las Vegas/Adaptation/Matchstick Men list of "serious" good performances.
(I should also note that I probably shouldn't try to come up with lists like that off the top of my head when several beers in.)

Thanks, forgot about Matchstick Men. That was a legitimately good performance. Bad Lieutenant, though I thought about it, I wasn't sure if it really qualifies as outright good. It's definitely an interesting, passionate, and dynamic performance, but it's arguably right on the line of Dowd's description:
"…he’s good

Agreed on all points. I should clarify that I don't hate 'Hulk,' I just really enjoy it either. It just is.

Aaaargh! The movie is based on a graphic novel/screenplay that was a sci-fi/fantasy reimagining of the Noah legend written by Darren Aronofsky. The studio "religioused" it up (by which I mean made it more, not less like the original story) to appeal to that audience and put asses in seats. It was never intended to be

Apropos of Dowd's observations about Cage's legit performances in Leaving Las Vegas and Adaptation, are those his only non-campy/over-the-top/so-bad-it's-good performances of the last two decades? Struggling to think of any other roles which qualify.

I would rather re-watch Ang Lee's 'Hulk' than this Cleveland Steamer of a movie. (I actually wish the NFL hadn't given their license so the team could be called the Steamers. Then I actually would have watched it.)

Your comment made me smile because I hadn't seen the term used in a while.

Shit just got real in wrestling heaven.
