Interesting. Do you have any links or info on that? I'm also wondering if those without DVRs, are the most desirable audience to target.  I mean - less disposable income in general?
Just curious here.
Feels like times they are a changin'! but that there is all this hair pulling and gnashing of the teeth over schedule

Glad to see Hannibal is getting love in the comments.  That last episode was brilliant, and unexpectedly hilarious and sympathetic to Hannibal.  LOVED.

What percentage of the population has a DVR ? Isn't the danger of changing up the schedule way smaller nowadays?
I understand the live ratings are what the networks are after for advertising dollars - but still? DVRs must making moving shows around far less damaging.

Simultaneously repulsed and turned on by Mads Mikkelsen as Lecter - going to scrub brain with bleach.

Can't believe I'm defending Smash … but that really was a risky show.
It's a miserable miserable failure - but they really did try.  Cable is apparently able to take risks AND succeed.

Let's talk about the wig glue technology the Soviets had access to.  I mean those wigs stay on through a n y t h i n g.

Jesus. The last six episodes are available for free online.  Seriously… it would be a grand total of $3 to catch up on the series.
It's an actually good, QUALITY series - cough up the 3 dollars!

Way to disappoint me, AV Clubbers. If you are going to argue this point - at least come up with some new justifications that are at least mildly inventive!

Ethics?

Can we not use cunts here? Vaginas would like to not be associated with the general cluster that is the current media content delivery system we now all despise. Thanks!

JESUS. thanks for the spoiler warnings.

I don't have cable - so to watch  Southland - I buy the series.  To me this is a HUGE signal that this is a show I can't do without. I buy Justified, Breaking Bad and  this.  Everything else is Hulu or waiting for DVD.

My guess is that in about 2 years, everyone will discover this a la Deadwood or The Wire and feel proud of themselves.
Which will be TOO LATE.

I have to say this one is one of the few scenes that read false to me. Just a really clear Silence of the Lambs homage.  *whispers* Christopher.

I have no words.

In a weird way it's really like Game of Thrones. Good people sometimes get squashed for doing good things. Bad people sometimes gain power by doing not nice things.
It's like ..LIFE.

I feel like it will be … fall from grace.. redeems himself through selfless act which will somehow mean OneTreeMustache will leave the show…return to grace still retaining respect of asses like Dewey who will love the initial fall from grace for some bigoted, stupid reason.

aaah. yes I remember the "was that a planted gun or not" debate. And I haven't rewatched the episode - but wasn't Sammy warning him the entire episode to basically cool it? I don't think he sees it as … well murder.. but he's definitely conflicted about it and would call it "unprofessional" at least. Note the language

So, SPOILER warning for last season plot points since apparently there have been a total of 3 of us at the AVClub watching this until now.

Exactly. Wrong venue to say that you saw violence/death for this guy. But honestly, totally unsurprising that Sutter said this.
