You mean CLONE TEMPO PIRATES, don't you??? Hyuk hyuk hyuk.

Aha! Thank you for that. I was sure someone here would get it figured out tout de suite. Well done.

huey lewis forever!
Huey Lewis and the News was the first concert I ever went to. (Mr. Mister opened for them.) They were completely awesome. It's still one of the most fun concerts I've ever seen. Glad someone else doesn't retroactively hate them because they were so of their time, Steven.

VONNEGUT
To elaborate on the Vonnegut connection (with help from closed captioning): as Michael pulls the trigger, we can hear the game show host finishing a question that ends, "…Slaughterhouse-Five?" A contestant then buzzes in and replies, "Um, is it Kurt Vonnegut?" The host then continues, "Correct! And to triple

This movie is completely wonderful, for kids and adults. Visually inventive in a way few films, let alone kids films, ever achieve. Funny and sad and scary and touching. Better than the original.

i'm awesome
I'm almost as happy to see your recaps return as I am to see the show come back. I'm just so glad other people share my love of HIMYM and all things Barney. Watching Barney stand up from underneath a pile of garbage, brush himself off, and confidently assert, "I'm AWESOME" as he struts off was practically

Midnight Madness rating
I've never seen this movie (though I kind of want to now), but I can tell you one thing about it sight unseen: if it came out in 1980, it wasn't PG-13. PG-13 didn't come around until 1984. Ah, remember the good old days, when PG movies had nudity? Now you don't even get nudity in PG-13 movies!

petty nitpicking
Two attempts at the name of the actress in Exotica, and two misses. It's Mia Kirshner, not Kirschner or Kershner.

when a movie is beneath ted danson, that's a bad movie
The Sisterhood Joy Dance was used in a recent episode of Bionic Woman, which was pretty much the exact moment I decided Bionic Woman really fucking sucks.

most hateful woman?
I'm sure Courtney is awful, but Most Hateful Woman on TV was wrapped up years ago by Flo, co-winner of the third season of The Amazing Race. Deny it if you dare!

Never mind that I alternately say I am looking forward to, and not looking forward to, your Friday the 13th reviews. You know what I mean, and that I mean it in as respectful a fashion as possible.

Friday the 13th
Honestly, from what you say here, I'm not looking forward to whatever you have to say about the Friday the 13th series.

i could be wrong
In fairness, I think the Mayor was intentionally acting stiffly and using a crappy, awkward accent in order to play off of Sarah's earlier impersonation of him. The conceit this episode was that Sarah's crummy impressions were viewed as uncannily accurate; having the Mayor himself actually BE a bad

Pretty good theory. I'd consider myself a fan of both directors, to a certain extent, and definitely some of that comes from their vast film knowledge, and personas in interviews. But I think I'm in between the two extremes you name, because I can also acknowledge their weaknesses and flat-out failures — which in

I know (or think I know) that Ekland consented only to topless shots, and was upset to find a body double had been used to suggest she did full nudity. Don't know if her refusal to do more than topless was a direct result of her pregnancy (which was only a few weeks along) or not.

I might have to throw one Friday the 13th and one Troma flick in there
Oh, Jesus, the shithead posting entire books in the comments is back. Please, AV Club, make registration mandatory so this asshole's IP address can be blocked.

Andi's mom has got it goin' on
I like Andi a lot, mainly 'cause she's so damn cute, though Satan's alternate use of her as carrot or stick for Sam is wearing thin. But you ain't wrong about her mom. I'd like to see her again. Growl.

I'm a real boy!

I actually saw My Big Fat Indie Movie due to my love of Paget Brewster. Won't make that mistake again. Painful.
