Iconoclast
Albini has pissed off as many people as those who love him. That's because he doesn't compromise and sticks to his guns. More power to him. He's also wrote a very stinging essay on the nature of the music biz, which should be required reading for any up and coming band:

I certainly had a blast watching her.

…and then I want a two-page report comparing the likenesses and differences. SINGLE SPACED, people!

Technically you're still considered a virgin when you're fucking your daddy.

My hips move more like maybe.

Kudos to the Jojo nod. Yeah, now THAT's a party in the USA.

Amen Porkchop.

Ugh
I can agree with some of these nominees, especially The Stooges and their influence on punk…but the Chili Peppers? Really? I'll give them credit for being funky when it wasn't fashionable at all and a very fun live act waaaaay back in the day, but they suck now. Hall of famers? I think not.

Raymond, you just won best post of the day, and it's only 1:03 CST.

Can we stop
blaming Yoko for The Beatles breaking up? The wheels started falling off when Brian Epstein died.

That was the most beautiful thing I've ever read.

The 3CP-1 episode is still to this day one of the funniest bits of tee vee comedy evah.
The game show What Fits Inside Russia, Tibor The Tractor, Hey, Jorgi. Gold people, comedy gold.

Another vote for both The Limey and Out of Sight.

For what it's worth
I know Pitchfork gets lots of flak around here, but their reviews of the reissues are really interesting to read. Some astute observations and they also do a great job of putting the Fab Four in context of modern bands. Worth a look.

No way in hades I'd waste a full beer on that prick, especially back then when I was perpetually broke.

Now you're onto something!

Wrong. Grohl is an amazing drummer.

Don't sweat it, Zack.

Right on with the Rain mention. Heard the song the other day and Ringo's drumming is stunning…and as usual..tasteful.
