Not sure about Tywin having a viable backup plan in place to protect Casterly Rock. Before Robb lost the Karstark army, he seemed to have Tywin's forces on the ropes. When Stannis threatened KL, Tywin had to leave CR vulnerable in order to take advantage of the alliance with the Tyrell's and win at Blackwater. Right?

I think you meant Game of Owns.

So you're saying Robb isn't resurrected by the Lord of Light, then?

I'd prefer if they were relabeled "Unsullied" and "Sullied".

@avclub-146bc30c345d31f3468fec764a1970e1:disqus What if a new Stark threat within the Lannisters arises? I'm not ruling Sansa out yet.

Also, I don't rule Tyrion out of the equation at all, no matter how impotent he seems at the moment. He could conceivably lead a rebellion against Tywin and Joffrey, especially if big brother returns and ain't the man he was whilst two handed.

This seems to be more of an issue of pacing than of having characters to root for. I'm happy to let the next generation of protagonists do a slow burn on their way to consequential action. What's wrong with rooting for a long-shot underdog, especially when we know there's enough source material left for that story to

Ha! I'm encouraging them to watch it! "I AM TRYING TO BREAK YOUR HEART."

Seriously! Can't a brother get a page number in the querystring?

Just because Sam's a little boring doesn't mean he's not important. That's probably part of the point.

I think this is the brilliant part of where the show is headed now. It seems like it's set up a grand redemption arc for one of remaining Stark kids, or Jon Snow, or Dany, but which one(s)? It's extremely unlikely that they all make it to the end, or to good endings. They might soon to be at odds with one another,

I'm sorry to see Catelyn go because all of the arguments presented here are in some way supportable. She was a very complex character trapped in very convincing circumstances, with a ton of the history of the show wrapped around her.

Me too.

"Can't Stand Losing You"?

Damn, @avclub-146bc30c345d31f3468fec764a1970e1:disqus , you've got to ring some warning bells before you drop a bombshell like that one in a random comment. What the what?! Now it's like I'm questioning gravity!

Seems pretty clear that the show is having a grand time messing around with conventions like "protagonists"; that it's by design. Also, with things like the assumption that the starting cast of characters — some number of volumes later — must be the ending cast.

@cheap vorlon knockoff
I think The Deans were kidding.

Yes, and especially the fact that she must have realized how much of that loss was largely due to her own mistakes. Brutal.

Also, there's no way to navigate between different pages of comments without hitting "next… next… next."
