I'm guessing he's a maverick of the John McCain vein …

No, I agree. I'm not one who worries about "ruined legacies" or the like. It's just that … the perfect distillation of AD has already been made; do we need another new season?

Saw a trailer for a new dramatic Netflix with him in it that looks somewhat promising - called Ozark.

Same here. AD Seasons 1-3 are impeccable. S4 was such a jarring switch in format, pacing and tone, and none it for the better. There was such a dourness underlaying it all. I have non interest in a fifth Season … can't they just let it lie?

That part of Logan reminded me a bit of the scene from Reign of Fire (the Christian Bale dragon movie) where he and a few pf the other kids acted out scenes from Star Wars, which in that world had faded to myth/legend.

Didn't we get a very good remake of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with the three seasons of Penny Dreadful?

Not to mention Kimmel getting woke to our country's healthcare issues. But "safe spaces" … I guess that affects people too?

I think Wasting Light is their best rock album since The Colour and the Shape.

That "album" is a great, weird, experimental EP stuck inside an ultimately failed experiment of an album.

… and is viciously killed by the Vulture, due to his lack of any type of protective textiles and/or armor. Unfortunately, that's how I see this tentpole summer superhero film heading.

Seriously. Is this much different from whatever arrangement the Clintons signed on for decades ago? With the exception of the Obamas, I'd wager that 90% of politicians' marriages are the "I'll put up with whatever in exchange for the money, power and privilege" …

    "I leeeestened!"

My thoughts exactly … isn't FilmStruck doing this perfectly fine right now? We need Fandor?

I remember when "… the next U2" was included in pretty much every review or article about them back when Throwing Copper came out. Then they released Secret Samadhi, and people stopped writing that.

That first album is start to finish, sonf-for-song big, dumb, loud rock fun. I'll always defend that album, and most of the second one.

Trying to figure these things out is a fools errand … I follow Soundgarden and Chris Cornell on Instagram. Seemed to be so content with his music, his family and his life. Came across that way in interviews, as well.

I was listening to The Watch podcast recently, about the 20th anniversary of OK Computer. The two hosts talked a bit about Radiohead not playing Creep live after it became popular, and how that fit the trend of the time. 20 years later, that idea of not treating your audience to any of your popular songs just seems so

All the more impressive that it had to have been written quickly. Sad to say, but the AV Club's eulogies and obituaries are up there with the NY Times' as exemplars of the genre.

I don't really say this about bands from the 90s whose zenith is obviously behind them … but I honestly was looking forward to a new Soundgarden album, which the band was supposedly working on.

That really is a lovely description of their sound.
