Oh dear god, that ass … I love Justified, but wish they could have kept Zea around more …

Well, the boilerplate for this is, "While (X is happening in the country/world), Obama is busy doing (Y - in this case, appearing on Between Two Ferns).

Huh … interesting. I read somewhere some weeks back that Pizzolatto cites Alan Moore's run writing Animal Man as one of his influences on this show.

We watch half the show with the captions on.

Sorry, brother. I have read on the interwebs of people proposing that future season focus on the Tuttles, or on the cult. As much as I would be curious to watch seasons devoted to Rust's undercover work, or his time in Alaska, I think that, ultimately, this story should remain told, as is.

Yup. That's why I loved the finale - this show, at hits dark heart, was about these two men, and the years on them. I was perfectly happy with the end of this saga being good old fashioned hard police work - "true detectiving," if you will.

I get the feeling that Season 2 will be a whole new setting, with new characters, ala American Horror Story.

Much like "bathroom from Trainspotting" is my verbal shorthand for any disgusting bathroom I come across, now House from True Detective" will be my shorthand for fucked up houses I come across … god, that set design was haunting …

Yup. The National seems like exactly the kind of band I'd want to be in with my friends at this point in my life - hang out, drink some beers, rock out, and get to bed at a sensible hour.

Many of the good shows I watch are like fine wine - I want to knock back a few glasses.

Broken Harbour was the first Tana French novel that didn't floor me. Faithful Place is her masterpiece, in my opinion …

Same here. I teach high school English at a public high school. The reports of the death of teen reading have been greatly exaggerated, as I see my kids lugging around plenty of novels, yet the "literary quality" of these books is suspect … but, hey, I guess it's a start …

Man, I can't agree more. "I don't watch TV" is such an outdated form of smugness, in my opinion. I couldn't name you 5 Best Picture nominees from 2 years ago, yet I can think of a dozen series on cable (and a scant few on the networks) telling stories as compelling, if not more so, than films or even books.

Saw Soundgarden last spring, and they played Ty Cobb … yes, it was awesome.

Well, he did manage to see 1/60th of a naked girl once, through a slightly ajar bathroom door …

I saw them last Spring, and I was happily surprised by how loud the whole band was, and Cornell was in fine form.

… the pack of Camels that I want to suck down after each episode costs more … goddam, I thought Mad Men was the smokiest show on cable …

Yeahhh … are we to believe a man like Marty Hart puts on the headphones and zones out to Floyd?

Yeah, he's like the Hulk in Avengers - we think we want more, but just a taste might be enough …

Pitching with machine-like precision year after year after unbelievable year while calmly jogging out from centerfield to this song made it his, as well …
