As a teacher and as a Hartford Whaler fan, I love that episode dearly …

Yeah - being a Simpsons fan of a certain age (mid-30s-ish) means being obsessed with the show, yet also not having a clue what has happened on it for years. I had no idea they had gotten married, either …

If I remember correctly, this same episode later had an interesting interview with conservative pundit Charles Krauthammer … a great episode showcasing just how terrific this show continues to be …

… but then denigrating any other actor/musician/artist who has ever taken what he perceives as a paycheck job.

After-credits scene? Youo know Ruffalo would go along with that …

Oh, I think that one of the many, many reasons Marvel movies are so great - the casting choices continue to delight. James Spader as Ultron?! Robert Redford in a Capt. America movie?!

What part of America are they from?

His "I'm a little bit lonely these days" kills me every time … Murray's great in everything, but I still say that this is his absolute masterpiece … his Rushmore, if you will.

As are Counting Crows, My Morning Jacket, and many others. Oddly enough, I feel like PJ's peers are Dave Mathews Band, and Phish, in that they have a passionate fan base, sell out arenas, yet their albums seem to come and go without much impact on the pop culture at large.

"That commercial slump has something to do with music-buying habits …" Yes, people that buy music buy crap …

It's not a matter of surviving; it seems a matter of sustaining. What big, American rock bands make it to 10 years, much less 20 anymore? I thought the early 00's ushered in the next great group of rock bands - the Strokes, White Stripes, Hold Steady, Killers, Kings of Leon - but they've all either broken up, or have

C'mon … that first Audioslave rocks, no? I think that album is filled with good rockers, and a few nice slower songs …

Yeah, I agree with that … and I think it does build to that frantic "The waiting drove me mad!"

    Nothingman could work, too.

"For Your Consideration: Remington Steele Shattered Television's Glass Ceiling."

… and don't forget at least one horrific car crash per episode, where everyone just walked away, possibly rubbing their head or neck a bit.

Yup. If I'm not mistaken, he was supposed to be Bond a lot earlier, but was filming Remington Steele, so they went with Dalton … not that those films would have burnished his rep as Bond much. I've thought that he was perfectly cast as Bond (dashing, handsome, yet a touch sleazy) in some of the dumbest Bond films.

Great film; seems like it's from 1973, not 1993.

Especially since the album seems to have been evaluated based on the music ("pretty great") and not the fact that they've been around for a while (ha ha Pearl Jam's old and recorded music in the '90s!) … how will the commentariat let that stand?
