IGNORE ME!

The whole conceit of the article only makes sense if you're ignoring black music entirely (which is what they did).

Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, The Staple Singers, I could go on all day.

If I remember correctly, he ended up having to do some sort of community service. So he paid for his mistake in the sense that he fulfilled his sentence. But not in any kind of "justice" sense.

Yeah, I think that's key. People who loved the show got caught up in the exuberance of the musical performances, and the show was anything but boring because of them. If the music was just "there" and didn't inspire any kind of response in you (and there's nothing wrong with that), then I doubt you'll be able to…

For the most part, racists are just regular people. They aren't monsters, they're just average Americans. Who don't want to live near black people.

Do you enjoy the musical performance scenes? Not just tolerant, but really enjoy them? If so, I'd say continue watching it. If not, then stop watching.

I still consider McNair's insane escape during that final drive to be the greatest football play I've ever witnessed live.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of the Steelers and Bradshaw, but he really doesn't belong in this discussion.

You know what. Love Jones really didn't age well. I loved it when it came out, but I watched it recently and cringed my way through most of it.

I long dreamed of a sequel that focused on a team up of Dave Chappelle's Conspiracy Brother character and NPH's white intern.

The best part of the Kimball book is where he describes the lead-up to the Duran-Hearns fight, and just how Hearns was totally unconcerned and Duran was completely intimidated. Of course, the result of that fight showed why he was right to feel that way.

Oh please. No one forced Duran to take the second fight when he did. When you're the champion, you can dictate the terms. If he'd said no to a November fight, just what could Ray do about it? Duran held the belt, had the victory. Ray needed him at that point, not the other way around.

Sanaa Lathan played Taye Diggs' girlfriend in The Best Man.

If you're a fan of that grimy NY rap, you've got to pick up Tony Touch's "The Piece Maker 3: Return of the 50 MCs." That shit is incredibly good.

I'm currently on my first listen of Tanya Morgan's Rubber Souls, and so far it's really good.

Ha! If thinking Janelle Monae is awful at rapping and should stick to singing makes me "white," then pass the cucumber sandwiches and mayo.

I'd love to have a version of this album with all of her rap verses edited out.

I considered it the best rap album of the year before Pete Rock and Camp Lo dropped "80 Blocks From Tiffanys Pt. 2" earlier this week.
