It probably would have been John Stewart who said it, as he wrote it.  Davy said he knew that "funky" wasn't going to age well.  God bless his little Manchesterian heart.

actually my favorite comment from the taste test portion of that article was

The correct, even-more-distilled ZMF distillation, was and is evermore

But seriously, fuck that bit where we get to hear a dude take a piss.  And it's over the beginning of "Gin & Juice".  Which means I skip that one now too.

I skip that so hard it hurts.  That and the "I'ma jus lay here and let him touch on ma booty" thing.  *retch*

I'm not sure.  Maybe someone else knows…

IN case you weren't aware, Drea and Michael won Emmys for Supporting Actress & Actor for this season.  About as good an accolade as you could hope for.

If this is a joke, good one.  If not, Daniel Tosh was born when Peter was in his early 30s, so I doubt it.

Early internet days, there was a Monkees fansite (probably geocities or something) where they actually posted "evidence" (I put it in quotes because I have no idea about its veracity) that MTV was ignoring huge numbers of requests for "Heart And Soul" on their call-in show, basically to get back at the Monkees for (I

A year later, the Monkees put out "Me Without You", which is THIS close to plagiarism with respect to "Your Mother Should Know".  One of the only times when they really did seem to be "stealing" from the Beatles to such a degree.

I assume you're kidding about the keyboard solo, which is just marginally more difficult than the one from "Jump" by Van Halen…

That's actually my favorite Monkees song — and I've heard them ALL - even though it wasn't officially released until "Missing Links" in the 80s.  That version's vastly superior to Nesmith's solo version on his first album.

Assuming you have pubes and a job, it's time to stop CARING about the Muppets.

Actually it wasn't.  The 1989 Keaton / Nicholson film was the highest grossing Batman film, in actual dollars OR adjusted for inflation, until "The Dark Knight".

P-shoooo.

Damn, forgot the Christmas EP "It's A Wonderful Life".  Also essential (and I think included in its entirety on "Fishbone 101").  The title track might be their best song ever, in my little corner of the world.

Okay, Rog', I'm on your side 100% on this one.  Fishbone is everything RHCP only aspired to be, and more.

Bounced right off, didn't it?

Ditto, plus don't overlook "When Problems Arise", their first full-length album (1986).  Starting with the "Fishbone" EP they just got better and better through "Reality", which is the great crossover hit that never was.

That's from "Give A Monkey a Brain…" which is the last more-or-less good album they made.  The ones after that tend to have at least one great track, for example "Just Allow" from the 2000 "Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx" CD
