This whole conventional wisdom thing in this piece, where it's a given that Bill Maher is basically an asshole (on par with Milos Y. or Dennis Miller) who may sometimes have a good point but his whole thing is to "get people to call him an asshole"? Yeah, fuck that.

When someone tells you that you should be a standup comic…unless that person is a standup comic themselves, or books a comedy club or something, you should probably just hear it as "you make funny comments in the status meetings" and leave it at that.
