Sleep is necessary. I once stayed awake for 64 hours in a medical experiment for which I was paid $500.  I wouldn't do it again for 10x that amount.

Its a great song to play live if you are in a band, especially for the guitarist.

Same reaction here.

I like this song and have thought it about it, especially since we once lived on the Danforth.  My conclusion it it is the same 'we".  Missing the old apartment is about missing the old life (ie "younger us"), just starting out in a shitty flat, before marriage, home ownership, assorted resonsibilities etc.  The

The thing is, when he does his monologue ( and i just rewatched it), while the jokes are pretty bad, he does not bomb— in fact, he goes over pretty well, with lots of laughs and whistles. Better to be king for a day than schmuck for a lifetime.

she's loving him with that body I just know it!  full body loving…..

exact same chant in southern ontario…..Canadians love swearing

As with any worthwhile endeavour, preparation and research make all the difference.

agree. coffee—it gives so much, and asks so little.  For the most part, all i drink is: coffee, water, alcohol, and smoothies (prepared at home from fresh fruit and ice).

I also could not stand the constant footnoting. felt like too much of a chore.

Back on the Chain Gang—written for James Honeyman Scott

I remember that song. As  I recall it had a bunch of guest drum soloists on it.  He also recorded a Townshend song "After the Fire" which had very Townshendy lyrics "I gotta stop thinking, I gotta stop drinking, I gotta stop smoking (smoking).

Yes and also Tonights the Night which references dead roadie Bruce Berry—brother, oddly, of Jan Berry of Jan and Dean……

Agree.  Its just a song! Its not a religion, a philosophy. There's no indication that Stephen Stills lives his life this way.  He heard a neat turn of phrase from Billy Preston, and wrote a hit song, probably in an afternoon.  How many can say the same?  Plus, he's a good guitar player.

Yes 21. I read that book as a kid—it was some pretty pulpy, strange stuff.  I also watched the short lived TV series.

Tip from a married guy: if you are worried that "someone might be reading", you may want to dial down on the "i was a bit of a slut in my single days' oversharing-type journalism. Also, no one cares.

He did not live with said son at the time.  She was being raised by a nanny, I believe.

The main point of the song, so far as I can tell, is that he's grateful that his wife agreed to drive him home from the party because he is to drunk to do so, and he goes home and crashes.

Rectum? Damn near killed 'im!

THats a great story.  I had a similar, though less intense reaction to chewing tobacco once.  And a similar, equally intense reaction to Betel Nut in southern Taiwan…..
