Out of time for me is driving around on a motorcyle in Taiwan while carrying a huge ghetto blaster and playing Losing My Religion.  Half a World Away (great song) backpacking through china later that summer….

I like the movie but that speech he gives always kind of grated on me.  No one could ever spew anything like that out fully formed in real life unless they had rehearsed it.

when i worked there 30(!) years ago they introduced a short lived creation called the McDlt, which was packaged in such a way to separate the beef half from the condiments half.  The beef was on the heel and the condiments (including fresh lettuce real onions and a tomato) were on the crown (yes McD's has names for

Wow, that was a great interview. I've never heard of this guy or his books but for some reason I find the whole story very gripping. Imagine pitching a show at HBO without preparing anything other than the concept….

This is a fine song I guess, but I think you would be mistaken to read too much into the lyrics or imagine that Noel was searching for anything other than vaguely evocative phrases that rhyme. He has  often been candid about how little effort he puts into them and how laughable it can be when people try to read in a

Agree Ronson has great tone. But not on Diamond Dogs. That albums guitar is all Bowie.

He sang lots。tough Boys, eminence front, cut my hair, slit skirts, friend is a friend, chorus of punk and the godfather, etc. he has a very distinctive voice which any Who fan would know.

i remember that review. it acknowledged the silly/pretentious title of both the band and the album, but also how good the music was.

I bought 13 Tales From Urban Bohemia based on a glowing review in the AVCLUB years ago, and it was one of my favourite albums.  On the strength of this release, I bought the next few albums by the DW, but eventually realised that this album was all they really had (with the exception of the song "The Last High" of the

I think the key is for a popular singer to have a distinct sound—this is more important than being a technically great singer.  For example, Neil Tennant of Pet Shop BOys made this point about himself in an interview-his voice is distinctive, and you know right away who it is when you hear it.  The same can be said

A big Stones fan (but mostly like the Exile on Mainstreet era stuff) I fell victim to the hype and bought this cd when it first came out.  Like most of their post genius stuff, it was heralded as their best since Some Girls. athough it has some nice KR ballads, I cant think of the last time I listened to it.

I like this post alot.  Some of these bands are still active on the local fair circuit ie Kansas. Some of them play small bars to appreciative groups of fans—April Wine.  Most of them, being musicians, just like playing and probably cant think of any other way to make money.  Some of them become bitter, somewhat

Kicking Television contains the best interpretations of the songs on A Ghost is Born.  Discuss.

True. But he must have been very pleased with himself for writing that poem.

so scary…

I really like this one, although I've enjoyed reading most of the posts.  Incidentally, War is a Force That Gives us Meaning is the title of a memoir by war correspondent Chris Hedges which is really worth seeking out and reading.  Its how I first learned of this poem.

I have the original !

THis looks awesome!

Totally agree with this. Sound Affects was a stronger album than the Gift, but the Gift was still good enough (horns!)—I saw that tour, and was really bummed when they broke up right after.

The Jam.
