I highly recommend Lathe of Heaven. It's a great standalone, which I think is more inviting than starting with the first in a series. It's also just a great book. George Orr for president!

I think the trailer for Cloud Atlas looks pretty great. I mean, geez, it's looks good, and nice cast. Then again, I think Speed Racer is highly underrated. Also, Sean Penn really looks like Smith up there. No time for erudite commentary I'm afraid.

They swing their arms forward, and the additional weight gives you momentum. It's like trying to throw a frisbee versus a discus. Obviously if the weights are so heavy that you can't carry them, it does not work.
