Not disputing that Lincoln did the most, but your time-line is a little questionable since the Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts passed in 64 and 65, respectively. Those seem important.

The fact that we are all trying to figure out why Gus killed Victor opens up another possible interpretation: that the very point of the act was to induce sheer terrified bewilderment in Walter.

Agreed on the overall consistency of JL/JLU. Definitely my favorite of the DCAU. About the only real stinker I can recall on JLU was the Hawk and Dove episode.

Zack Allan
His character's mini-arc in Seasons 2 & 3 of Babylon 5 was really great. The show was full of these grand history making type characters, so it was always nice to have Zach's everyman perspective on the unfolding events as a contrast.

Terminator 2 is one of the best action movies of all time. During the final chase scene they fly a fucking helicopter underneath a freeway overpass. No CGI. For reals.

This does not look like a good movie, which is too bad. Given all the great material they could potentially draw from, this kind of looks generic. Not to mention cheap.

I would say that while the individual parts of The Colbert Report - political satire, Ali G style interviews, and the absurd- are not original creations of Colbert's, the way he blends them all together into an internally consistent universe based around his character definitely is. He can deliver The Word on economic

Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing, Escape from New York, They Live, Halloween.

One great thing in its favor I forgot to mention: Happy Gilmore's Grandma chopping up her husband with an axe, tentacles flailing about the whole while. And the ending. And John Glover as the sanitarium director.

A Statham/Carpenter collaboration would be fucking inspired.

Mouth of Madness had some really inspired moments, but overall it didn't work for me. The bus scene where everything turns blue and Sam Neil just goes out of his fucking mind with terror was awesome and hinted at the kind of metaphysical mind-fuck of a horror movie it could have been. All of reality is under Sutter

The only stand-out part in Pro-Life was the male abortion scene. Now that is an audacious and unsettling gag.

One potential knock against the The Thing is that the characters can be hard to distinguish from one another at times. "Where's Fuchs?" Wait, which bearded guy in a parka was Fuchs again? But in the end I think it was probably intentional. It heightened the tension for me, because aside from a core group (MacReady,

The very fact that this discussion of Kennedy's worth has taken off in the comments section of an episode about Tara's death in which Kennedy does not appear at all, speaks volumes about the source of most peoples fierce hatred of her. Not that I begrudge people that. I didn't want Willow to move on so quickly either.

Slither
Is a great movie. An awesome cast, good story, a nice blending of practical and CGI effects, and too many great gags to list. Best movie of its type since Tremors. Definitely material for a New Cult Canon entry.

Tim Lieder: I always thought Buffy had a lot of support in academia. I recall that being one of the things that was discussed often about the show while it was airing. Has there been a shift in Buffy scholarship?

What's interesting is that it always seemed clearly like a set-up to me, but given how many shades Keith Szarabajka gave to Holtz (Noel mentions his sense of honor), I could easily see someone coming away with the impression that it was all a mix-up. Planning such a devious revenge plot over the course of decades that

Yeah, I wasn't part on any Buffy internet community when the show aired, so I was completely sealed off from any potential spoilers. Total out of left field devastation. The Mayor is without a doubt my favorite Big-Bad, but after this episode Warren became the one I actually hated and found to be genuinely malevolent.

UMD: The dialogue is the frequent knock against Buffy and for most of the people making it I'm sure its totally genuine. However, I've personally known people who dig Firefly but won't go anywhere near Buffy. Same cutesy dialogue style, but with this DVD box cover:
