Nope. Nope, nope, nope. You can’t do Dune in 2 or 3 hours. It might as well be called Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, because it sure won’t be Frank Herbert’s.
Unrelatedly, fuck Brian Herbert.

It’d be more interesting if it was for old people.
It’s a good start, but they need to get rid of all the men and aliens and ships and planets too.
The experience I have online and in person is very strange. Almost every I know in person, even really big Star Wars fans, did not like this film. Some of them really liked the last one and some of them liked Rogue One a…
The tie fighters in the 5th movie don’t spend 20 minutes prepping us for World War II style bomb dropping. Yes, the physics in Star Wars has always been magic, but sometimes it breaks your suspension of disbelief and sometimes it doesn’t. The Empire Strikes Back ones can easily be seen as directional lasers or…
Didn’t they say her name in the episode of the B in Apt 23 when Van der Beek was shooting something with her?
I like that. That is a very succinct way to put it. They do feel college friends.
Adam Driver was pretty good in this, and I liked John Boyega a lot in the last one. In this one, I don’t know why but Finn didn’t do much for me and he was my favorite in the Force Awakens.
Luke had way more failures than Rey did though. His first lightsaber battle he got his hand cut off. His first use of the force was missile guidance, not mind control or other force power type things. Luke was shown training way more than Rey was. It’s not comparable.
But it’s an adventure series of films. Why would people go into assuming or even wanting it to reflect real life? These were never serious dramas. They were always basically children’s films. A happy ending seems more appropriate.
I feel pretty alone in the that the things I liked about the original trilogy are not the things that most people seem to like or remember that well, and that are absolutely not represented in the new films. I was never super into Han Solo, and while space battles can be somewhat cool, I think the new trilogy has an…
Prequel-wise Anakin is Jesus. It’s slightly different.
I found it really boring and forgettable. Zod made me excited when they were showing Krypton, and for that matter Krypton looked gorgeous and fascinating. And then we spend most of the movie in greyscale and Zod gets less interesting the longer the film goes on. I think I saw it twice, the second time to get a better…
If we’re going based on psychology of The Bat-Man, then wouldn’t Bale’s fit better? He more closely aligns with the idea that Wayne sees himself as Batman rather than as Wayne, as in the alter ego is Wayne. Affleck makes me think of batman, a more generic super hero, whereas Wayne makes me think of The Bat-Man, as in…
In the sense that every male and female character in the universe is a manipulative philosopher, I think Frank Herbert does an excellent job with his female characters. And that’s not even sarcastic. I loved all of it.
Just as good as their official version. That was a really great live.
I know. Hence my accounting pun since it was done by his accountant.
There’s no accounting for taste.
Super Cafe is my favorite version of Batman and Superman at this point. They’re best buds in the most entertaining way.
“I will freeze breathe your face off.”
“No you won’t.”
“You’re right I won’t. I love this guy!”
This one is perfect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QFPuyDrIIk
I love the Princess Bride fight scene and the Vader/Luke battles in both Empire and Jedi for the reasons you suggest, but those actually do have feel like they have some vitality to them. For one, the Princess Bride was choreographed much better than a lot of superheroes. And the Vader/Luke battles have one of them…
I’m not sure you’re disagreeing with me?
