My favorite small moment was Bolin stealing food off of Korra's plate.

What I always appreciate about Avatar fight sequences is that they tell us something about the people fighting in addition to being really cool to watch. Team Avatar vs. Mechs, for example, showed them working together as a team (earthbending the ramp and bailing out of the car with minimal signalling), showed both

See, and I'm now convinced that it HAS to be permanent. Otherwise this moment has no weight, and Amon's revolution has no real long term consequences.

This was my EXACT thought after the episode. Someone further upthread mentioned how much that scene was staged like an execution. I think this actually devastated me more, because I totally didn't see it coming. I figured someone in the main cast would lose their bending by the end of the season, but I NEVER expected

I feel like if that were the case, Aang would have done it already. And the longer this goes on, the more I buy into the idea that Amon's powers are real and the de-bending is permanent. There need to be consequences from what he's doing in order for the stakes to be real.

Lin definitely seems like a "married to her job" type. Granted, he could have also meant their pretty obvious philosophical

Indeed. That skill is going to come in handy.
