I agree. People expect children's programming to be didactic and to offer "role models," but that's clearly not the game LOK is playing. I've seen people complaining that Wan is a much better Avatar than Korra, but I don't think that's missing the point. Wan fucked up royally on multiple occasions. Hell, his journey

Taken as a whole, this is possibly my favorite episode in the whole franchise (with "Zuko Alone" and Te Revelation close behind). In fact, along with GOT's "Baelor," BB's "Ozymandias," and Mad Men's "The Suitcase," I'd say it's one of my favorite hours of television ever. So gorgeous. So much payoff for a mythology

A teen who's been deprived of normal socialization because adult men decided that was best, who has had very little say in the course of her own life, whose mentors and parents haven't been honest with her, etc.

Yeah, I tried to introduce Avatar to someone this summer by starting at the beginning, and there was a lot of "no no, trust me, it gets a LOT better."

Dude, I'm in Moscow. Life finds a way.

Oh, and FUCK The Search. They should have just left that shit alone. That part of Zuko's backstory was so much more interesting when it was all mysterious. The whole POINT of it was to get us to empathize with Zuko, whose inner turmoil begins with the fact that at some point when he was a little kid the world suddenly

I got a Community…I mean Korra…update for this?

I haven't listened to this week's PBO live episode, but if it even approaches the greatness of the last live show (which I think Podmass missed because of the holidays), it will be one of the funniest things to ever hit the internet. I don't know that I've laughed harder at a podcast than when Tig goaded Ira Glass

As pathetic as his character is, Hanks always seems like he is having the time of his life in this movie. That accent is ABSURD, but he manages to sell it somehow.

Walken's Abagnale Sr. has a Willy Loman-esque quality to him, except his son is a competent thief.

Might be a good idea to keep the Kleenex handy.

I dunno. That one DLM I heard a while back where he panelled as himself, Cake Boss, and Ice-T was like watching someone juggle flaming batons for an hour and a half. It was funny but mostly I just couldn't believe he could keep it going for that long.

Just like Hoarders makes me paranoid about a normal and perfectly acceptable level of office clutter, so Orman makes me feel like my $1500 debt (left over from a research venture I had to partially self-finance) is the moral equivalent of a person who leases a Ferrari and makes $50k/year.

There's no question that the historical perspective is skewed, but I buy his story that the specific culture at TBS changed while he was there.
