I forgot about that scene. I do like that they not only left whatever he's seeing up to the imagination but by doing so left room for the possibility that the two of them are just imagining/hallucinating whatever it is they want to see at that moment.

Not only did it give her agency, but it reminded us of her emotional journey, of what she's lost and what she's trying to gain. She's been stagnant throughout most of the season (MY DRAGONS!), so I was actually really glad that they made that particular choice.

I've been pretty frustrated with the back half of this season, and I often think that being a book reader has been a handicap in terms of enjoying what the show is doing rather than judging it by how well it meets my expectations. I was on board with most of the changes up until Episode 7, when I felt like they

What @avclub-e14267dedd4e1d0cc0093bc13643fd59:disqus said. I think OWL guys were almost completely without a map. No one had trained an Avatar in the traditional fashion in over 150 years.

Yes. The savaging of Ryan McGee on the GoT newbies thread last week was vicious.

@avclub-7cbaf9384cf3835106bf2f444c0bcf65:disqus  Oh for sure. They weren't doing anything wrong, but Asami has a legitimate reason to be anxious.

Agreed with @avclub-d9058a06a58121fef563d4c8d1b58faf:disqus . Even though it creates a few plot holes, I think the larger reason for not getting Katara and Zuko involved in that way is that this show isn't called The Legend of Katara and Zuko.

The most common reason I've heard is that Bryke wanted to tell a tighter story without "filler" and make the animation higher quality than in A:TLA. I think Nick actually deserves quite a bit of credit for giving those guys 4 years to do whatever they want, and the door for more episodes after Season 2 is still open.
