I can't imagine that it's ever been triggered, given that she grew up in such a tightly controlled environment. Tenzin, however, is seriously falling down on the job if he doesn't have "the talk" with her at some point as the shit really starts hitting the fan. After all, she doesn't have any control over when and how

Though Avatar has routinely roflstomped that last taboo in the past.

MORE MINOR SPOILERS

Oh, that's one of my favorite bits so far, but I can see why it would be polarizing.

Oh my god. If there was ever an occasion for fanfic, surely this is it.

In this episode at least, Bolin had a lot of child-like qualities, which makes his relationship with Mako extra sweet but makes him a problematic match for Korra. I love that his crush on her is so on-the-surface that Mako thinks he's gone to visit her, and I suspect he feels protective of his feelings, which may be

Hu did, yes.

@avclub-11b8a5ce8c81cdb1f73003fb628d7bc6:disqus There's a fan theory that I like that that's why there are all those firebender skeletons near Gyatso's. He literally sucked all the air out of the room, killing himself but taking all of those guys with them.

If this whole "the spirits have given up on the Avatar" has any truth to it, it raises a few important implications:

I'm hoping so as well. "Leaf" had a pretty relaxed, low stakes feel with lots of great character moments coming after a pretty frenetic (but still excellent) pilot. I imagine we'll see more episodes like it.

I just finished a pre-Korra TLA marathon, and the upgrade is so stark. I don't know whether to just be super-impressed with this series or wistfully sad about what TLA could have looked like.

Great discussion. A lot is being made about the fact that non-benders are apparently excluded from certain walks of life, and that does seem to be important. But I think at least one of the points of the Mako/Bolin scenes is to drive home the point that benders ARE vulnerable to poverty, street violence, and

It makes sense to me, given that firebenders were behind the previous war. I also am very intrigued by the fact that fire is Korra's go-to element. It's the one she's mastered most recently, and it's convenient since she can generate her own fire, but I suspect this preference is significant for other reasons as well.

Yes. You're right. Perhaps I should ahve said, "on the surface," it seems like each one's strengths are better suited to the other's challenges. Aang's default pacifism was critical in securing peace. Even though Korra will no doubt need to take significant steps forward in her spiritual journey, her "blunt

Speaking of which, we're all in agreement that Hasook is dead in a gutter somewhere?

Completely agree on all points. Korra is more suited to Aang's task, just as Aang would probably be more suited to Korra's. Methinks that's deliberate.

I believe the Book 2 title as "Spirit" is pure fan speculation. I haven't seen that actually confirmed anywhere.

And mostly ironic. Mostly.

I think it's possible that HE believes it. There are the extremists who are basically con men, and then there are the extremists who've actually bought in to their own con. The latter group is the scariest.

Saw that too while looking for a trailer for this ep and immediately started searching for a pencil to gouge my eyes out with.
