So, I've thrown my support behind Koko (which does seem to be canon if the trailers are any indication), but I like that they have these three just doing shit together (though it's acknowledged Bolin still has a bit of a crush and we have that super awkward waking up moment in the park) rather than immediately pushing

Bloodbending is specifically referenced as a super-elite sub-discipline in the entry on waterbending on the interactive map. Methinks it's going to be significant.

Sure, but that was a hilarious callback.

I see it as akin to a forced lobotomy. He's stripping them of something that is central to their personhood. Even if his motives are semi-understandable, he's still violating their bodily autonomy in an incredibly disturbing way.

Tenzin is the reincarnation of Rupert Giles.

I was expecting something similar and was glad that that final scene was there to establish that 1) Tenzin is cool with it, 2) Korra isn't still sneaking around and hiding shit from him. There's more of an adult mentor/student dynamic here than a meddlesome parent/disobedient child dynamic.

Which means they are extracting and refining fossil fuels. I wonder how that's going to play out given how meticulously this show is highlighting the trade-offs of urbanization and modernization.

Old people sex!

Plus, Republic City at night has a very Christopher Nolan Gotham sensibility to it.

We need to keep a running count of every time she lifts a grown man off his feet. I could watch a whole episode where she just does that. It wouldn't get old.

I was wondering if Zolt was in on the scam, but that doesn't make sense given the fact that Bolin was in line to be de-bendified. There's definitely something fishy about the whole thing. I'm not sure I even believe his back story. The theatrics were just a little too much.

But those tonal shifts are trademarks of the Whedon style. Perhaps you just don't feel they manage it as successfully here?

Also, "Puppet Show" is pretty terrible, at least in my opinion.

"Spike, are you a Nazi now?"

I had a totally bitchin ponies collection back in the 80's. Then my 5-year old sister left a whole box of them at a softball game. Asshole.

We would also accept "Water Tribe," sotto voce, as a badass signoff.

Yes. This is the one thing I dislike about the finale, because it doesn't make sense for Zuko to have held this information back and because, in the context of the episode, it feels like a stalling tactic on the part of the writers.

@avclub-20d4c2d722de8dd0f1ec4e055d9b639e:disqus Holy shit. That scarf really has become its own meme. It's this year's Princess Beatrice toilet bow hat!

@The_Tuna:disqus Indeed. I'm actually kind of happy to know that we'll have a resolution to the Amon arc by the end of this season. It makes the fact that we'll no doubt have to wait a year for Book 2 somewhat easier to bear.

I'm fine with the action in Korra staying put, but if I could request one out-of-town adventure it would be to one of the Air Temples. I imagine Aang would have had them restored and protected as historical monuments and pilgrimage sites.
