What makes the original so good is that, despite the sunny vibe and silly concept, there are real hints of sadness in it - mostly in the lines "Since your dad walked out, your mom could use a guy like me" and "Stacy can't you see, you're just not the girl for me". So I don't really see the need for this, even though

I have the first two albums on one CD, which was a pretty sweet deal at the time.

I watched about half of it, and didn't want to finish it. The actors were all pretty good, (except maybe for Efron, but that could be the character), but the pacing felt really off and the story never became compelling.

Uh, lots of things?

If you side with Christina (sorry: Xtina) Aguilera

Mad Men’s Mason Vale Cotton and Game Shakers’ Benjamin “L’il P-Nut” Flores Jr. take over Arnold and Gerald, respectively.

Most of my favorites have been mentioned here, but I'll throw out "I Don't Think You Know Me At All" and "Mr. Webster". And also recommend Carole King's demo of "Pleasant Valley Sunday" (not that the Monkees' version isn't also great).

I honestly don't think there was a better singer in '60s rock.

Interesting, I'd never noticed that. It's a neat bit of symmetry too - the first verse contains an A-Em shift midway through each line, the last contains an A-E shift at the end of each line.

I didn't notice til several viewings of this movie that there's an ad for a "Plate o' Shrimp" Luncheon Special in a random window.

I think it probably is at least somewhat a feminist film, but arguably one that undermines its feminist themes by attempting to have its cake and eating it too (i.e. by condemning the male gaze while at the same time giving the viewer ample opportunity to ogle the film's actresses). On the other hand, you can argue

I find it fascinating, and don't really know whether it's brilliant or terrible, but there's a lot to be said for its uniqueness of vision. (The only other Snyder I've seen was Watchmen, which I didn't like at all.)

What would people recommend to see beyond Jeanne Dielman (which I thought was great)? BAM's doing a retrospective and it looks like they're showing most of her major films.

"One of the towers has collapsed, fortunately not the one I'm in!"

Sucker Punch at least has some vision. This just sounds boring as hell.

And to think that in some countries these apes are eaten.

Big Shot Chronicles has a lot of great songs (Erica's Word, Regenisraen, Like A Girl Jesus…), but I wish it wasn't sequenced strictly alternating loud and soft songs - I tend to find it distracting.

I adore this album - the one track I'll shout out for that didn't get a mention is "Andy in Ten Years", the perfect Disc 1 closer.

I enjoyed watching it on a plane - is that similar to watching something stoned?

This was better than I expected, but I still can't help but be bothered by the fact that the rhythm on the eight dampened cymbal hits in the middle is off.
