This is a decent analysis, except for the implication that the number of studios and instruments involved somehow makes the song better. And I hate the generic chorus melody and harmonies, even if the key changes add a point of interest. One thing he didn't mention is that, while Gb major is the relative major to Eb

Fourth season? What did I miss?

"The Informant!" is on my shortlist of favorites. I think it's fair to say that most of his movies aren't going to be someone's favorite, because they tend to be somewhat low-key; instead of being big ambitious divisive things, he makes movies with fairly modest aims that achieve them very well.

Diesel fuel can't melt mozzarella cheese!

Go is also in some sense a purer game (i.e. there's only one kind of piece, instead of six), which probably gives it more appeal for mathematicians.

News flash, fuckwads, I'm a good person!

I suspect Jefferson Airplane were considered not female enough (one of six members, who wrote only one song and sang lead on only two songs on their most well-known album). But you could have made a good case for Sunfighter or Manhole. Or the 1999 Best Of Grace Slick, which has a pretty excellent tracklist.

Good calls on Fairport/Sandy. I don't remember seeing Patsy Cline on the list, which seems a pretty huge omission.

I like the Holychild I've heard (particularly the track they did with Kate Nash). Couldn't get into Kero Kero Bonito, though.

They did pick her best album, at least.

That's not what "sweeps" means, unless he also got nominations for Best Rock, Best Pop, Best New Artist and Best Whatever Else They Do In These Ridiculous Awards.

Given that he's a man from the future, maybe there's a resurrection coming!

None of the others sound much like Ferreira, except for maybe Katy B. But I'll also throw out Marina and the Diamonds' "The Family Jewels".

It's from Dolly Mixture. Dolly Parton's on the NPR list, I remember.

Some omissions I haven't seen anybody else mention: Jane Siberry (The Walking), Girls Aloud (Chemistry - yes, the Spice Girls were a bigger phenomenon, but musically GA were miles better), Bow Wow Wow (See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang Yeah, City All Over! Go Ape Crazy!), Dolly Mixture (The Demonstration

Agreed on Saint Etienne, but So Tough would be my choice for them.

You could make a good case for any of Nyro's first five albums. Eli is probably my favorite, but not by much.

Much agreed on the Sky Ferreira.

Florrie hasn't even put out a full-length album! (And yes, she does appear on Girls Aloud's last album, but Chemistry or maybe Tangled Up is the one that should be in the canon)

If you really hated the KARS-4-KIDS jingle that much, you'd know that it's not KARZ. (The correct spelling of KIDS is left ambiguous, I concede).
