I don't think poptimism is about "these people are nice so we shouldn't make fun of them". It's more like, "hundreds of millions of people love this music, maybe they're not all idiots?" It also theoretically attempts to ignore the idea of "cool", which has been a staple of rock music criticism since it began.

Wall-E and Inside Out are way more conceptually interesting than those two, so I'd recommend at least checking those out. Or, if you're in a hurry, watch the first ten minutes of Up, and if that doesn't do anything for you, you can probably not bother with any of the rest of the studio's output.

The book's very good too.

Especially his peer Boccaccio, who wrote the source material.

Given that they're generally the same character, that seems unsurprising.

I believe it's largely because they sink boats, but yeah, still true.

"Bone Dem Titties"

Can we get "Bourne Identitty" by legal?

They already killed her off once. What they should have done was a spinoff movie with her coming back from the dead without her memory, a la Bourne.

She was very funny in Scoop.

a trailer that gives Starship Troopers the gravitas it so richly deserves.

I like the Israel joke, but I just think that as an actual song it's pretty weak. Most of my favorite songs on the show would work great as songs even if you took out the jokes (e.g. "What'll It Be").

As Dan mentions, this is right out of the Rebecca Bunch playbook - e.g. "Ping Pong Girl", a song about really wanting to be good at ping pong so she can look like she's not trying to be really good at ping pong. So I think the critics and voters who've seen the show will get that.

Agreed except I hate the rap battle. "California Christmas" is a good standalone one. You also can't go wrong with "West Covina". I wouldn't do "Tap That Ass" or "Greg's Drinking Song" since a) they're not that great, and b) they'll spoil stuff for a new viewer.

"Man, you're such a shitty architect! How am I supposed to live in this pile of pieces of wood?"

It was too crowded.

The Jam?

GIVE IT TO ME BABY

For some reason I periodically get Mandy Moore's theme song stuck in my head. ("My American dreamz: dreamz with a 'z'!")

This is pretty good, certainly better than anything off Meloy's Shirley Collins covers EP. Although I prefer mad genius organist Dolly Collins than the Albion Country Band if we're talking Shirley Collins backers.
