All the way back to "Rory's dance" it was pretty much established but yeah, it's definitely front and center here.

Does anyone else adore how consistent the show was with Madeline's underlining kindness to Rory? I appreciate how they kept her little hesitant wave to Rory throughout. It's such a nice little character detail.
Totally. It always makes me cringe but watching it again it stung in a way it hadn't before and is a great reminder to the audience that while we get to see how complicated Richard and Emily are, the people in their world mostly don't.
That scene alone could probably make even the weakest episode an instant classic.
Beyond being some of the finest episodes in the whole series, the first four of season two are special and unique in the way that they're a little tighter and more serialized than normally usual to the series and they all take place during the summer. And while the first three are especially great, I think "Hammers…
haha, happy to be here. :)
God I love this episode. It's always special when TV creators — specifically ones with distinct voices — make their directorial debut. ASP informs the rest of the series with this episode through the easy transition from calm to dramatic, stage style framing, famous master shots, brilliant dialogue and really fucking…
Well yeah, that's where it factors in for me as well and I'm with both of you on that. I wouldn't take as large an issue with it if Sims at least attempted a justification for it. I'm always up for different takes, but the one in this review as is reads so poorly and seems terribly contradictory to what anyone…
Thank you! I've always loved Rachel and what works so well about the character is that her maturity, friendliness and sense of humor endear her so easily that I actually really wanted her and Lorelai to be friends and I almost want her and Luke to work out. It's a fascinating, exciting situation that the show never…
Saying either of these episodes are dull certainly inspired a great deal of doubtfulness from me.
The dialogue/ exchanges in "Emily in Wonderland" are especially crackling. I love the bubbling tension, maturity and hesitance explored throughout Lorelai helping Rachel, being a friend to Luke and the uncomfortable possibility of real change through those actions. Great stuff.
heathen!
As Loki says below (edit: above!) Gilmore was always pretty amazing in regards to the Dragonfly. One of my favourite things about the show was how Lorelai and Sookie's dream of owning their own Inn was established in the pilot as an almost off-hand comment that actually ended up being carried crucially throughout…
someone kickstart this spinoff, please.
I always adore that they could totally be friends.
I find it odd that anyone could consider "Emily in Wonderland" a dull episode. It's such an important one going forward, a standout in season one and well, one of my all-time personal favourites. I don’t mean to act in the reactionary “LIKE WHAT I LIKE”, but for me, it presents all the very best qualities through…
I like "Christopher Returns" a lot for its big Gilmore mythos resurgence. While I never really warmed to the character himself, his role in the series is so important to the story that it always sort of elevates the stakes in an enjoyable way, such as instigating the wonderful argument between Richard and Stroh and…
I've always had a special place for Concert Interruptus. Even if the Bangles centering it feels somewhat forced, it's entirely fitting as well because Rory and Lane are shown to have musical tastes that easily allow for it. But beyond that, it's just fun as hell to see the show leave for the city, having friends…
Bagging on Hannibal? Who the fuck approved this nonsense?
Started watching re-runs of Rhoda last year to actually have an opinion on this infamous storyline and I ended up appreciating it too. I never really warmed to Joe and considering how quickly the two were married, I thought it was a fairly refreshing and appropriate outcome. It will always suck how the show wasn't…
