I thought it was funny a couple weeks ago when Sims pointed out the way his roommate is taking Lorelai's side in her romantic life now that she approaches her age. I watched Gilmore as a teen and yes, Rory and Jess was a hook, (I was young!) but even then I quickly came to the realization that what I loved most about

Especially with Sookie being  all adorable and joke-ey, it's such a funny and then realistically sad  friendship moment that I'm certain most have lived through. Both Lauren and Melissa  both totally kill the awkward, pained reaction.

I was just looking for it too! what the hell SIMS

Honestly, I've always liked Max. He's definitely boring but in a comforting way?  Him and Lauren Graham have great chemistry and having his character in relation to Chilton, giving a shared conflict and relationship to Rory always made him enjoyable for me.  Plus, I never saw him as the guy Lorelai would end up with

Ew.

Definitely. Her comedic timing in those years is especially strong.

So sad now. Rest in peace, Ebert.

won't let me respond to your comment about Rory's flawed self so I'm just addressing it here.

I always kinda/definitely wanna try it.

But it's just…weird. And when I say this, I mainly refer to stuff  like in season six's "Twenty One Is The Loneliest Number." Earlier in the episode, Rory invites Lane to her birthday and when she shows up she's all surprised saying "You actually came!" like it's been YEARS or something since they've last seen

Eugh, I'll  be one of those people and have to agree with that assessment. I find her + Rory mostly unbearable in those seasons.

this just reminded me of the  later hilarious season 3 moment when Lane mentions how Mama Kim "explained" conception to her:

I don't know, I actually find Bledel pretty convincing in that last scene. At least, when I compare it to later fights in the show, this is probably one of her stronger ones.

I always think about these two and how similar they are, but each is already played so perfectly that I can't really imagine it.

…and his floppy hair.

That's another thing I really appreciate about season one. Lane's friendship with Rory is at its most seen and developed. It always makes me sad to consider the later years and how it basically drifts out of the show.

Kelly Bishop's reaction as she eats it earns her an emmy, alone. Love it.

Catching Lane watching that, I actually think Mrs.Kim made the right decision.

also these two episodes are packed with some of the funniest exchanges. Probably my favourite being:

These episodes are so back to back brilliant, I feel like they each need their own single page review!
