"The US doesn't do that without slavery."
"The US doesn't do that without slavery."
Good points.
I agree with all that. I'm not sure that it is what made the US get a jump-start compared to other nations.
There was an interview on NPR yesterday with Will Allen, and it came across as he doesn't really feel that the abuse was a big deal, because everyone were so nice and friendly. It was an interesting interview, even though he understands it was bad, he has a lot of affinity for the cult (which they didn't see…
"that's how we got our jump start."
He's a good-looking man, why the hell did they put that ugly ass beard on him?
Oh, Americans.
"What most justifies the new Roots is its performances, which are good enough to make The People Vs. O.J. Simpson look like less of a lock come Emmy season."
I wasn't excited about this one either, due to "super hero fatigue" and decidedly bland trailers. But I ended up really enjoying it, probably more so than "Days of future past".
I thought it was great too.
I liked Jay Leno, but realize how he is perceived by many, and I can see why he was accused of being too "lame" or whatever. But Colbert, and I can't believe I'd ever have to write this, is even less edgy than Leno was. Hell, if Colbert did "Jaywalking" it would be the edgiest material he has put on so far on The Late…
I honestly watched at least 80% of all episodes of the Colbert Report, if not 90% (it was rare that I missed more than 1 episode in two weeks), and I think you're absolutely wrong. Colbert was on point, had a high "normal" standard and some absolutely amazing shows. I really do not misremember.
True. I wish she'd have stuck to her guns and said "Sorry, but your job will hopefully be obsolete within the lifetime of a new voter" and then gone on to do Danny DeVito's big speech about buggies from "Other people's money".
By the way, has anyone noticed that The Daily Show is pretty damn great right now? Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng, Hasan Minhaj, Jordan Klepper and Al Wood Jr are fucking KILLING it every time - one of the best lineups of people they've had in years. Trevor Noah has gotten better too, his interviews are more relaxed and he…
Perfect summary! "He seems terrified of the network, and he seems terrified to fail." especially. He almost seems like he's literally looking over his shoulder sometimes.
It is kind of weird that they were so active before the show started, but not at all after. You'd think they'd find SOME time to have a presence online.
Yeah, that's the bottom line. Does anyone think he'll do better than Romney and McCain?
Is "we're going to put a lot of coal miners out of work" really a gaffe? WV with their miniscule number of electoral votes won't vote for her anyway and who else gives a shit? I WANT coal miners out of work (well, I want them to find another job, but still)!
No way, his doctor said that he would be the healthiest president ever. I quote (seriously) that his "physical strength and stamina are extraordinary," and his test results were "astonishingly excellent". Then he said "If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to…
I get the feeling he's terrified of being president and hopes that his clearly erratic and insane behavior would let him off the hook.
