I think Leno was on Tuesday and Carson did Wed -Fri (could be wrong, that was 20 years ago).

Spot on with the Letterman/Paar comparison.

"Sammy Maudlin, I want to bare your children. HAAAA HAAAA!"

Thank you Carson Lover. I too was 17 when he went off the air. Your post "crystallizes my thoughts, eloquently" (to quote David Letterman).

"Palmolive, John Paul and Dan Quayle…"

Perhaps you are ALL homosexuals!

I'm from the "stay up late in the summer and on weekends" crew and I loved Carson and Letterman. I was a high school freshman when Arsenio got big. In Minneapolis, his show came on a half hour before Carson started, so I would stay up and watch him pretty regularly.

Strange Meeting…
The bass player in the Record Club/Beck clip was Abe Laboriel, a long time L.A. session bassist who mostly works in pop and jazz fusion. He is a badass and his son is Paul McCartney's drummer. Never would have thought I'd see him playing with Thurston Moore.

I guarantee…
that Miles, Coltrane, Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Parker and Ornette, never used the word "jazzy."

Pierce was the lone voice who wrote about metal and jazz.
I come to this site mostly for the film and TV writing. But for the most part, this site's taste in music is pretty terrible.

What?
No 'Trash Humpers?"

@ Fast Zombie: You may be talking about Blackbyrd McKnight, who was a guitarist for Funkadelic, Herbie Hancock and was even in the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a week.

The Lone Bassist…
Should have moved away from the window with his bass. Acoustic instruments made of wood are sensitive to humidity. The cold air would do horrible things to the ribs and bouts inside the bass and likely cause the finish to crack.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure that was her in the underwater swimming scene.

I'm sure there's a cringe-worthy ethnic stereotype for him to play.

King Crimson opened for Rolling Stones.

Just thinking about that movie the other day. I was at my friend's house (we were about 10) and his mom asked from the other room what the movie we were watching was rated. We told her PG, so we were OK, but we were pleasantly surprised by that nudist camp scene.

Funny thing is, Van Impe has been saying "the end is near" since at least the early 70s.

Dell, is that some kind of kiddie porn for your avatar?

Yeah! Because saxophones are so LAME!
