Noel, are either of you going to be reviewing Astelton/Duplass's Black Rock? I've read some scathing, downright angry reviews on it, and was interested to get either yours or Nathan's perspective on the whole thing.

I did. It was okay. I would have preferred Klosterman interview him. Simmons is one of those guys who is a very casual music fan, but thinks he's a huge music fan and yet he can't even name half the albums of the guy he's interviewing, nor did he have practically any idea of the history behind the band other than

I think Louis explains himself pretty well in his stand up and doesn't really seem to care if he offends anyone else.

Pam: "Didn't Ben Franklin have syphilis?"
Franklin: "Yes. But I don't. My name is Gordon."
Pam: "Ohhhhhhhughhhh…"

No it doesn't. It just means I prefer Lana's body. Much curvier. It's like going from a 10 to an 11.

Agreed. I think if we could mix and match, I'd take Aisha's face and Lana's model's body. But I would keep the pre-ISIS Lana afro for sure.

That's my favorite Springsteen song and I'd never heard that cover. Thanks, @avclub-0f0d67e214f9fef69b278e3d08114da9:disqus

I should watch it again one day, just to be a Soderbergh completest (haven't seen Kafka or his segment in Eros either).

@avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus David Hyde Pierce was so good in that. What an underrated actor.

Yes. Disappointed he disbanded them when he got GBV back together, but I guess it's a fair trade.

I don't either. Not all of his films are successful, but that's half the reason they're interesting. He's always trying something new and experimenting. The only movie of his I found myself straight up not interested in was The Girlfriend Experience. I watched about 45 min of it, fell asleep and just never felt

From what I read, it sounds like he essentially is quitting for the time being and has no set plan on when he will return, but he wants to leave the door open to change his mind (I hope he will).

If I had to guess, I'd say he liked Red State for one reason and only one reason: Michael Parks in a starring role. (which, according to Smith, was inspired by the opening scene in From Dusk Til Dawn and, later, a compilation video tape called The Best of Michael Parks that QT showed him)

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that his performance in Pulp Fiction is simply awful. It comes oh so close to bringing the film to a grinding halt. Luckily, Keitel comes in and gives the movie one of its most classic scenes, but christ, not only is it distracting because it's the director making a cameo, it's

He claims he'll start writing books once he turns 60 and stops directing. Maybe he'll include an in depth discussion of why he liked Green Lantern but didn't like Drive.

I'm more surprised that Drive Angry didn't appeal to him. That movie was just a shittier attempt at what he was trying to do with Grindhouse…which should almost make it better in his eyes.

It's like if you love Tati, alright, you have to love Sandler….alright?

Does Christina Ricci show her feet in Anything Else? If so, I think I have an explanation for you.

I thought the house was the same? Maybe better kept, but I could swear it was the same. I argue they were merely living above their means.

What indication is there that they are wealthy besides the truck? Honestly can't remember.
