Damn, I wrote my similar reply at the same time as you and you got all the likes. I get none. Fucking 1%er.

He called her a Celestial; none of this PC "Asian" crap.

Back in '06 he did a south east tour, hitting Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Asheville, Louisville and then went up to Akron, Chicago and Detroit. Really wish I had seen him at the Ryman. Probably a once in a lifetime chance. I heard it was amazing.

I went to several in that time, but I live in Nashville, so everyone looks like that anyway.

I love the Jayhawks, but the new album is disappointing, IMO. It's not bad, just not up to their standards. It's not as good as the Louris/Olsen album that came out a couple of years ago and not even as good as the Olsen-less Jayhawks albums. Glad they're back together though, hope I can catch them live.

It's good but I agree with the reviewer that it's a little too smooth, a little too Starbucks ready. The production is too glossy. These songs seem better suited to live in studio takes and minimal production, which is probably why I've enjoyed his performances on NPR and other places more than the album. That said,

No Cold Roses, sir? Or Jacksonville City Nights? Those would be my #1 and #3 rankings, respectively. And get ye a copy of Strangers Almanac while you're at it.

The most glaring omission for me has been the absence of the entire Drag City label catalog. I remember when they angrily jumped ship from emusic because of the shitty royalties, so it's not surprising.

SIMPSONS DID IT

Carolla in the Best of?! Have swine been given the power of flight?!

Tanner. Please. He didn't just rape her, he straight up ended her life. And then they showed him working out a lot.

I think every comedian is guilty of falling back on "comfort comedy" when you're in a potentially awkward situation. But it's funny because you DO expect DiPaolo to be thinking something like that.

I'd be pretty proud of Observe & Report, George Washington, All the Real Girls, Eastbound & Down, Shotgun Stories, Pineapple Express and Footfist Way. Even Snow Angels and Undertow are far superior to what most film school grads ever churn out. One Your Highness for all of those quality flicks is a fine ratio.

Murray or Waters? I've heard everyone on movie sets hates Murray, but I've also heard that he's very nice to regular people and a good tipper.

Nick's comment about expecting to find David Cross and Bob Odenkirk playing hacky sack in the lobby made me laugh out loud.

Also, that Dana Gould one is pretty great. Not sure why it's listed below the others. Koechner doesn't have much to say, but Gould is on fire as usual, and he ups Carolla's game.

No, he's still all about those things. I give him a pass on a lot of things because the majority of his beliefs are rooted in his own experiences (for instance, his opinions on welfare) and not a straight-up regurgitation of right-wing talking points. I also think he says a lot of things for the sake of being

No, I'm not giving REM credit for their success, but I would say that if people are willing to give relatively obscure bands like Pixies, Velvet Underground, Big Star, etc. a place in history, then you should certainly give a band who was selling millions of albums for a good 15 years—and on top of that, have been

I don't quite get how people are getting from "haven't been relevant in 15 years" (which is fair) to "aren't important in American music." I would say without equivocation that R.E.M. influenced more '90s musicians than any other band of the '80s. Even if you reject the notion that they will be seen as a huge rock

I'm guessing you haven't heard the new Decemberists album.
