Every skit was not a parody of what was popular at the time, but since they were a network sketch show, those were prevelant. There was some weird shit in there between the parodies. A lot of stuff that seemed proto-Mr. Show, which isn't surprising since they shared a lot of the same writers, including Cross and

every scene HE'S in…phew, almost gave my secret identity away.

That's cruel and not true, really. The Bartha character has no real funny moments, at least none that come to mind. Warren has a moment in almost every scene I'm in. I don't remember anyone ever quoting Bartha, but in 9th grade I heard "Hab you theen my batheball?" at least once a day.

I thought he may have only half understood and perhaps suspected Josh was calling him gay?

We got a funny bones over here.

Say what you will about the rest, but Fleetwood Mac was a fucking great band.

Agreed on City to City being a great album. Its so of its time, but in a good way.

"Right Down the Line" is a better song. Seriously might be the smoothest song ever made. RIP Gerry.

Couldn't even get through the one published in Esquire. Sub-liberal arts school lit mag crap.

I thought he was retarded at the time…but looking back, was he? First, Jen was a slut, Joey was a virgin. Joey was hotter, but she was also kind of a Debbie Downer and Jen was pretty fun as long as she wasn't talking about her parents or going all Richard Dawkins on her grammy. I say any guy who looks like Van Der

You want weird casting, watch Jacob's Ladder where Lewis Black is the doctor. There is not one laugh to be had in that movie, and yet Lewis Black shows up. Clearly this was pre-Black mania, when he was most likely struggling to pay bills, but still.

WE'RE DRIVIN' TO FLORIDA!

Was that the season with Julia Louis Dreyfus? I recall some "women of SNL Playboy" sketch that had some truly fantastic picture of Ms. Louis-Dreyfus. The actual joke of the sketch was lost on me.

That reminds me of how Sasha Baron Cohen insisted in some interviews that the joke was Ali G/Borat being so stupid, and NOT the people he was interacting with. Really? The rodeo scene was you mocking Borat, not American rednecks?

I always loved this exchange between Cormac McCarthy and the Coens from a Time interview.

You're right, he did leave after second season. Weird cause I recall there being a marked difference between season 1 and 2. Season 2 really amped up the melodrama and soapy aspects and took away anything that had been vaguely interesting about the first season.

Funny, I too am reading Red Harvest after I finish Inherent Vice.

In defense of Kevin Williamson (and this is hopefully the first and last time I will do that), the guy left the show after season 1, when Jen was still relevant to the show. I felt bad for Michelle going through some awkward teenage years (since she was actually a teen at the time) on that show…weight issues, bad

He also did like twice as many podcasts as he did last year…may have spread himself a little thin.

I love Carolla, but he's not for everyone, and his comedy is definitely at odds with the types that are popular around here (who I also enjoy). But I feel like anyone here could download an episode with he and Dana Gould or Bryan Cranston riffing and laugh their ass off. Note: I much prefer Ace's one on one interviews
