I love all those NY art-docs, including the ones about the city's culture in the '50s and '60s. I should put together a list sometime of how you can tell the city's cultural history through existing documentaries.

Gotcha. But I meant those as two different knocks on modern comedy: They don't have a strong visual style *and* they're not tightly scripted. And I cited Chaplin as a counter to the first point, not the second.

I like 21 JUMP STREET a lot too, and think it's more of a "movie" than WANDERLUST. But it also kind of loses some steam toward the end.
