I don't see re-working gags as in opposition to trying to make them look good on film. Those are two separate issues. My point is that MODERN TIMES and THE GREAT DICTATOR both look stunning. WANDERLUST does not.

No, I agree with that. I'm just saying that there's no counter-example in this episode of the Alliance being useful. Not that there *has* to be, mind you — I don't expect the Empire to get a fair shake in the STAR WARS movies, for example — but it would've made things a little more nuanced.

I'm not as big a fan of S3 as I am of S2, though I'm looking forward to revisiting it later this year, to see if it's better than I remember. (I enjoyed it at the time, but I also remember not being too shaken up by the show's cancellation, because it seemed like they were losing some steam.)
