One does not simply walk into Merry-Go-Round.

This one is for your diet pills, and this one is for what-have-you.

I saw John Carter on Friday and I thought it was great. I'm not getting the hate. Is it a money thing?

Midichlorians are "manufactured bullshit", unlike the Force, which is real, dammit!. It's real to me!

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

By characterizing the issue as "McDonald's is knowingly serving coffee that is dangerous to consumers" you are saying that consumers cannot handle hot water, and that giving it to them is irresponsible. "Hot" here means 180 degrees. Regardless of how severe her injuries were (and yes, they were severe) they were

I keep hoping to see the Demoman from Team Fortress 2 in there.
"Ach, they'll have to glue you back together IN HELL."

I don't understand this whole "skewed so far toward the adult" idea.
It seemed entirely a film about a child living in a child's world. I watched it with my ten year old son. Is the idea that melancholy is something only adults have? That's certainly not true. So, I don't get it. Someone explain please?

I went to see this but was 20+ years beyond its demographic. Also, I loved it.

The Smallville pilot premiered when I was 38, and I watched it and thought it was great. I watched every episode for the next ten years, right up to the series finale. Yes there were some stinker episodes. (I thought there would be no way to screw up a Halloween-themed lesbian sex vampire sorority episode, but I was

That snopes article is decent, but more relevant would be Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf's article linked below. If you want to get an idea about their credentials for writing it, which are excellent, check their wikipedia pages.

What was that about hats again?

I was hoping for a shoe phone, a la Maxwell Smart.

That was a great anecdote. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with these people. Probably they can't handle more than three sentences strung together.

So THAT'S where your user name comes from.

In college I tried to give myself a nickname, and my friends bought it. A year later I thought it was tired. Today, after 25+ years, those same college friends still call me that. Taught me well.

Fail. SQL with recursive queries is turing complete.

The guy from Malcolm in the Middle? I thought he could only do comedy.

It's not a good thing per se. It does mean, however, that virtually all of the criticism (including everything Rabin wrote above) is misdirected. If people don't understand what's happening in the film, the only criticism they're in a position to make is "I couldn't understand what was happening in the film."

If you don't understand what happened in the film, how are we supposed to take seriously your claim that it's all surface and no feeling? Perhaps if you had gotten beyond only the most basic sense, you'd find depth and feeling there?
