Tonight was, in terms of mythology/theory building, probably the best episode of the season so far.

I thought the same thing. Flying a plane is fairly easy, just the taking off and landing is hard and if they get Lapidus with them they have a pilot, but a sub is fucking difficult AND there isn't exactly a submarine pilot hanging around the island.
