"the language bleeped out and the sex scene censored. But the violence was still uncut."
"the language bleeped out and the sex scene censored. But the violence was still uncut."
The violence in Drive is pretty brutal and ugly (and stylized), but it's doing that because violence of that nature should look like it. I don't think the focus of the movie is that very narrow message, unlike Funny Games.
Snatch was never great. Everyone here is accusing Drive of being "style over substance," but God does Guy Ritchie's remake of his (superior) first film with a bigger budget definitely qualify for that statement.
"Mine is the only source that works!"
You're a laugh riot. I never made that argument.
"overweight" is not a character trait, so you can just let yourself out the back now.
Disagree on Moneyball's quality, as well.
That movie was also a disappointment.
This movie makes up for the waste of Monica Bellucci in Irreversible.
For a guy who's obviously so much fun, I'm shocked you didn't find this movie a lark.
Black Hawk Down is a great movie…
Bronson was shitty?
Wait, Jean-Pierre Melville's movies weren't interesting the first time around?
…the whole film was from his perspective. The movie begins with his narration.
Ed Tom Bell did not die in No Country. And Chigurh gets away from the car crash but there's really no way he "gets away" in the long run. He's as doomed as his victims by the finale.
When he finds out that Shannon has told the mobsters about Carey Mulligan and her son he blows up. So the "showing no real emotion" argument falls flat.
The AV Club LOVES Cabin in the Woods and that is not deep in the slightest.
Black Swan is far from an examination of a tortured artist. It's a story about mental illness.
The characterizations of the people other than the Driver hurt your thesis.
This movie is so much better than Funny Games. A ridiculous comparison.
