I have a tendency to pay attention to the good stuff and ignore lows.  When he's on, Lupe is amazing, and Lasers doesn't take that away.  Same deal with the Wu: Ghostface has MORE good stuff, but I think GZA has higher highs.

Lil Wayne is kind of unique, because while his RAP sucks, his RAPPING is amazing.  The guy just sounds great.  And honestly, it's not that he completely sucks all the time, it's that he has no quality control.  I actually have more patience with his shitty rhymes than with other people, because he goes to the trouble…

I actually think one huge problem in hip-hop is that "new" gets lumped so easily in with "good."  Odd Future is just packed to the gills with shitty, shitty rappers (Earl Sweatshirt is the only exception), but they actually carry promise of drawing the genre away from sounding like Drake, so people flock to it.

Oh, and while Rowan makes good points about the fairness, I'd have appreciated more discussion of the MOST unfair thing about this show: the idiot MTV tween voters.  ABDC has a long history of crews who clearly have the ability and talent to win, but simply are never going to connect to the appropriate demographic…
