Oh, she's a total limousine liberal. Like, I kind of have a suspicion that they had that specific type of person in mind when devising her character.
It got linked to outside sites and people came in to hate on it. It wasn't the typical AVClub community.
I think this distinction is actually really harmful. All adding the "meaningless" and "misplaced" does is make it so the person somehow deserves the bad feelings you deliberately caused in them… whereas the truth is, deliberately causing bad feelings in others with no other good purpose is being an asshole, full stop.
There's one moment where she gives a wide-eyed, blank smile and just sliiiiiiides out of frame where it's like TERRORLAUGHBONER
OH INSPIRING YOUNG GIRLS okay never mind, figured it out.
Dude, don't be coarse. They should fuck each other in private, but we all know about it.
I… kind of don't understand that tweet. Exactly what do they have in common?
….because it's part of an interesting public conversation about representation, ownership of art, intersectionality, and the political role of narratives? Not sure what's weird about this
I didn't recognize her until I just called up a video of her in action on Pyramid, and I flashed back to seeing her on GSN.
Okay, if Richard Dawson was the best Match Game player (intuitive people-skills), and Betty White was the best Password player (verbal intelligence, quick creativity), who was the best Pyramid player?
Well yeah, but that means it's pretty much my own childhood she's going to be referencing. Tom Servo's gonna open his mouth and reference the goddamn Gummi Bears or something. ah shit now I got the gummi bears theme stuck in my head.
Actually in retrospect, I shouldn't worry about them referencing old pop culture… they have freakin' Felicia Day on the writing staff, after all. I just need to steel myself that it's MY OWN GENERATION that will be referenced.
As much as it IS important that they riff on modern things, I really hope they don't entirely lose the old references. One of the best things for me (an older Millennial) about MST3K was that it served as a basic education for the pop culture of a generation or two above me. I'd never have looked up old episodes of…
I always felt that Pearl Forrester got the brunt of fan backlash that should have been reserved for Bobo… horrible, horrible, never-funny, one-note Bobo.
Odd though that disgusting, perverted fanfiction makes the Oregon standoff people MORE palatable.
Where on earth are you people, that Steven Universe fanfiction isn't easily avoidable? I love the show and I've never found myself confronted by one.
I want to talk briefly about ponies. Fuck you, I liked the first season it was made by the Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends people shut up.
Has anyone ever heard that one episode of This American Life where they have a segment about a teenage boy being interrogated by the police for the murder of his own sister?
Fuck yes.
