what a horrible night to have

I stopped following Green Lantern after Blackest Night.  I am not generally a Geoff Johns fan.  I did read this issue just for old time's sake, and it is the Geoff Johnsiest comic I've ever read.  It's pretty much the ultimate culmination of his "a cool thing happened because it is cool" style, and with an added

I'm always singing the praises of Glory.  It has to be one of the greatest character redesigns and reinventions in history, what with taking a bland, cheesecake-prone Wonder Woman clone and turning her into a hulking mountain of a woman who you really believe could snap Superman's arm off and benchpress the planet.

It's not that hard to believe.  Both DC and Marvel really value getting books out on time over any kind of artistic merit, and Greg Land will get some books out on time if he has to trace an entire issue of Playboy to do it.

I don't know, I feel like a lot of the hype about that character is manufactured since DC themselves have had a clearly-transgendered character in Sir Ystin over in Demon Knights ever since the relaunch started.  And that character is one of the most important in that book.

I know I mention it every time it comes out and I'm not sure how many people actually read it, but Glory's final issue (#34) came out this week.  I thought it was a really excellent sendoff, and probably one of the best final issues I've read, made all the better by the fact that it's not a Big Two title so we

Yeah, I like Venditti's run, but I miss some of the things Cornell brought to the title.  Venditti's run doesn't quite have the wry humor of Cornell's, though there is still some humor in the form of Vandal Savage and Horsewoman's new horse.

All-Star is great, but I feel like Batman: Odyssey by Neil Adams is the Batman story that truly must be seen to be believed.  After all, no other Batman story includes the author's insane ideas about Hollow Earth Theory.

If Ross Campbell draws it, I will read it without question.

Swamp Thing and Animal Man are cautionary tales about making your intro arcs short and not losing sight of what made your book popular with a gigantic never-ending crossover about zombie superheroes not unlike that gigantic never-ending crossover a few years ago about zombie superheroes.

Has anyone else been reading Glory?  Because this week's issue (#33) destroyed me.  I kind of understand why it's ending now, since Glory herself seems to have passed the point of no return.

The best part is when they show the characters and their Justice League counterparts, with the implication being that these people were chosen to specifically take down a particular Justice Leaguer.  And they have Katana up against Wonder Woman.  Katana, whose only power is "has a sword."

I saw a couple sites pick up the story, but I'm not sure the characters involved are really major enough to generate a lot of media hype.  It's like how Demon Knights has one of the only transgendered characters in mainstream comics, but he's so relatively minor that only a couple sites had anything about it (granted,

I just can't get into Batwoman.  I read the first arc and thought it was just okay, despite having really pretty pictures, and then the second arc was one of the most miserable things I've ever experienced.  JHWIII and that other guy writing the series just can't compare to Rucka, and I feel like the book mostly

He probably should have stepped down a long time ago. Green Lantern has been pretty bland and on a continuous parade of events for a while now.  It's sort of sad to see someone who's actually added a lot to the GL mythos overstay his welcome.  But after a while, you just want something more than color-coded lanterns

You should check out Tiny Titans sometime, since that's where Bat-Cow originated.

Demon Knights is the only DC comic I still read regularly, even though I was worried when Paul Cornell left.  Judging by the one issue by the new guy, he seems pretty good and is continuing the book's humorously dark tone.

Yeah, I don't read the book regularly, but whenever I do check it out, I'm always struck by just how little Wonder Woman there is in this Wonder Woman title (Jeff Goldblum voice:  Ah, now eventually you do plan to have Wonder Woman in your Wonder Woman comic, right?).  The latest issue had what, about five whole pages

What bothered me more than anything was when the music would change to the woman and child just weeping and wailing without end.  It'd probably be pretty cool to run around with super-low sanity if it wasn't for that bone-chilling crying.

Demon Knights is such a good team book in a sea of mostly not good team books that it makes me shed a tear that no one is reading it and it might not be around this time next year.
