I actually liked the earlier episode when she's drunk and Joey gives her his "How you doin'" line, and Rachel replies "I'm fine baby, how YOU doin'?" Joey just gives her a flirty smile then turns and emphatically tells Ross to not let her drink any more.

That's such a relatable situation - ex-girlfriend goes on to some guy the ex-boyfriend thinks he has no shot at competing with (what would YOU do if prime Tom Selleck took your place?). Them winding up together not only felt right, it felt earned and in Chandler's case, hard-fought.

He'd have made perfect sense as rebound material, especially after she finds out how he's felt for so long. "Yes, this is the type of guy I should REALLY be with!"

My wife worked in advertising for a number of years, which was populated mostly with women who victimized one another. It was a nasty environment.
