Well if you find it so stupid, just watch something else and leave everyone who likes it to comment? Kids are smart but yes, they do have short attention spans.

Or you know, reiterating for kids who, surprise, watch this show too and don't comment on AV Club reviews online.

Its definitely not going to be solved by a kids' cooking compeitition show, but the American entertainment industry does unfortunately have a history of leaving out and excluding women, people of color and pretty much anyone who isn't a white male. Wanting things to be more leveled and equal doesn't make you an

I thought that was more teasing and done in jest. He joked in the same way in season 2 when he tried to set Oona up with his son.

Wasn't it Jenna that he helped?

That's true. I guess we'll see. I also just remembered Buzzfeed's article where they stated that the kids get coached on cooking certain things/plating lessons so I would imagine that the two finalists probably get final cooking teaching sessions too. If Andrew isn't good with desserts normally, my guess is the person

Oh for sure. I'd imagine the final showdown menus would have to be planned in advance. They only get an hour and a half or so to cook three courses; cooking one dish in the other challenges could feasibly be thought of on the spot, but for three that are that cohesive and have to be restaurant quality, it wouldn't

Hmm, I'm curious where your hostility over Nathan is coming from. First of all, you do realize this *is* a children's cooking competition show, right? Many adults watch it, but plenty of kids and families do too. Nathan using the word children just struck me as him being a bit on the mature side, not in a holier than

I'm going to watch future seasons just for personal reasons but, considering Logan won over Samuel last season which totally surprised me, I have some faith that Nathan could very well win.

As someone else stated, this is changing next season. Joe is leaving both Masterchef shows and is being replaced by a female pastry chef, Christina Tosi.

Assuming the finale is done the same way that last season was, I'm guessing that next week the boys will have to prepare a three course meal for the judges. This week's episode, Andrew was very clear that he isn't very good with preparing desserts. Since that is the third dish they likely have to prepare for the

I was dead set convinced it would be Jimmy based on the judging. Andrew being chosen bummed me out big time. Favoritism.

That was cute for sure. I also loved Jenna saying "Not anymore!" when Gordon asked who loves raspberries after they dropped them on the kids.

Team Nathan all the way.

If anyone is interested, go to Fox's website and check out some extended scenes and blooper episodes. Ayla actually did get some confessionals as I suspected she did, they definitely filmed some, but didn't end up in the final versions. She appears more in the extended scenes they have posted for Season 3.

Yeah, that's one of the things that makes it hard to criticize this show for me personally; the fact that you don't see or hear too much behind the scenes stories (closest we have gotten for MCJ was Buzzfeed's article from Season 2 last year). You base your decisions off what you see on the final aired product but

I think they would definitely benefit from doing a final cook off in future episodes and allow the kids second chances to stay, Ala what Top Chef does.

I re-watched Season 2 recently and for whatever it's worth, Adaiah actually did get a few confessionals in the first two episodes long before she was eliminated. She still made it into the semifinals and, she had her dishes and cooking skills focused on quite a bit even if they maybe didn't show her one on one that

"Words the kids use to describe working with Gordon in the kitchen: scary, horrifying, stressful, nightmare."

No I agree with that but there's still other kids who didn't have any or only have had one. Riley never had one until this episode; season premiere, Philly only had one at the end and Parker had none. I'm totally aware the interview processes likely follow a specific formula.
