I have to say I've always been impressed by how they've balanced references to the old series with the knowledge of new viewers. There have been the occasional nods and winks, but anything major has either been explained or worked so seamlessly into the narrative that someone who had only watched the new series…

I'm not sure I'd classify three months as a long break.

They should have addressed the River Song issue in 'Dinosaurs on a Spaceship' when they were introducing the Doctor to Rory's Dad. 'Yes Dad, this is our….son in law. Sigh.'

My first reaction was, 'Ha, finally reading the novelisation of Downtime has paid off!'

I can't say I'm the biggest DS9 Worf fan in the world. I've never been that into Klingon culture and whatnot, and in this way the serialised nature of DS9 hurt it a bit. I had no problem with TNG Klingon episodes because they were just that, episodes. But Klingon story arcs? No Thanks. And (SPOILERS, I guess)…

Agreed with the comments above. I don't see how feeling a bit depressed about the fact that you went from botanist and head of the science lab on the Federation flagship to being basically unemployed somehow impacts on Keiko's role as a mother. There was a problem, and they dealt with it like adults, good for them!

I love the character building on DS9, and I think the show was always designed for it. The TNG model was always to use the characters as a set mould though which to tell stories, but the stories were never ones that would fundamentally change the character. Picard got some great character moments, but he was…
