I feel like The Skin I Live In counts 50% as comedy, because I spent the whole movie giggling with glee as it got crazier and crazier.  (I believe the technical term is American Horror Story Syndrome.)  I fucking love that movie!  Can't wait for this one.

Huh- that's right, I remember that now, and I remember my momentary "There's a Haverhill, LA?"  Weird.  Haver Hill is my favorite nawt frum heah mispronunciation.  I also enjoy when people pronounce the capital of NH as conCORD instead of conquered.

Everyone should see Animal Kingdom.  Fan fucking tastic.

It was all a dodge.  It turns out Sidney Pollack MD was right all along!

I think that's a good call, but thinking too closely about how this movie mimics the 2008 crisis/election and which characters symbolize which politicians/corporations is making me angry all over again at the blatant political subtext. [TV news in the background:  "Investors are furious today at how the collapse of

Oh god, I missed the Jefferson = "rich wine snob".  I hate this movie more now.

That's unfair- there were two good things in the movie: Gandolfini and Johnny Sack.

I finally saw this last week, and man, Gandolfini is great in this.  A good counterpoint to Tony Soprano- just as amoral, depressive, and self-pitying, but also softer.  His scenes were my favorite in the movie, and I like Brad Pitt's exasperation that this professional he brought in to help him out is one more

Think of all those old-timey people who missed out on the unsettling self-portrait that is the Netflix film recommendations page.  I wish I'd never told Netflix that I watched Irreversible, the White Ribbon, or 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days.  I'm not all BLEAK SOUL-CRUSHING DRAMAS, HARROWING FOREIGN THRILLERS, or

It was an aggressively expanding market!

I like the cut of your jib- I would like to donate to your PAC.

Beverly used to be one of the FBI's top forensic scientists, involved in solving the most brutal crimes, but this fall on NBC, she's… Being Deposed .  Now's she's on the record, answering questions, spelling out proper names for the court reporter's sake.  Being Deposed , Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC.  Your objections

Right- and to a certain extent, that's part of his job description.  Caring about his agents more would make him less effective.   The FBI needs someone who can prioritize saving dozens of innocent people over a few agents/investigators.  They need empathy on the ground (Will) and cold pragmatism in the corner office

I used to think it would amazing to work at Google, but then I talked to my friend's programmer husband who described it as basically a forced labor camp.  Though he also said that most of the programmers he knew were the type who were happy to sit in a cube and code indefinitely as long as someone brought them food

Couples Retreat was not watchable.  The only thing entertaining part of Couples Retreat was hearing Malin Akerman's "We've been married 15 years!" line and imagining the prequel where 30 year old Vince Vaughn decides to propose to his 12 year old girlfriend, Malin Akerman.

That bastard- I bet he voted to cancel Hannibal!

Aw- Deng Xiaoping died.
