I've had that list written since June. I just can't decide if 2018 should be 1978, 1993 or 1998.

This was an interesting period for Knots. The show hadn't switched over to serialized storytelling, resulting in the occasional oddity like "the women investigate a haunted house" or "a director confuses Abby for his lover from their days in Old Hollywood."

See, and following the examples of Code Black and The Odd Couple, I was going to count that as a de facto cancellation, which — again — flies in the face of instinct.

You could always have an imaginary daughter, like Ricky.

DVDs. The show's online footprint is spotty at best.

Oh, I'm more than positive it will come back. I might adjust that, but, well, it does benefit two players. I think in future runs of CL, I'm going to be less likely to rubber-stamp potential cancellations.

“The Body in Question”
— Joel’s odyssey continues, as he finds himself turning away from reason. It’s all because an ice-encased corpse is found in the river. Evidence suggests the deceased is Pierre, a contemporary of Napoleon’s. Not only that, but Napoleon apparently wasn’t at Waterloo. Joel and Chris debate facts

Thoughts on Northern Exposure, episodes 20-21
“Jules et Joel”
“But, who really is the bad one here? Joel, who’s only pretending to be good, or Jules, who expresses his evil side, so when he is good, it’s the genuine article?”

Finally, here’s the viewing schedule for this year’s project, the films of 1982. While I tried in most cases to match films to their opening weekends, certain months required stretching. I’m also not going to pretend everything I’m watching is a classic.
Feb. 5: Personal Best
Feb. 12: One from the Heart
Feb. 19: Quest

And now, my end of year best and worst:
Best Picture:
1986: Hannah and Her Sisters, Ruthless People, True Stories, Peggy Sue Got Married, Little Shop of Horrors
Runners-Up: My Beautiful Laundrette, Back to School, ”Crocodile” Dundee, Something Wild, Three Amigos!
1991: Defending Your Life, Soapdish, Barton Fink, Beauty

The Weeks in Journalism/ My Personal Life
Hi, all! Forgive the absence last week — I spent most of the day writing a (positive) review of Hidden Figures and was so zapped, I didn’t want to write for a while. That fatigue is kinda coming and going. It’s the midwinter blahs, mixed in with my usual bitching about how

"Christian superhero" seems so foolproof, I'm surprised no one's tried it. Imagine slotting one of those films as a tentpole summer release.

Betty White gets the attention, but Angela Lansbury's no slouch in the career endurance field.

I'm from Michigan, residing in North Dakota.
I demand John Waters Presents.

Oh gawd, remember Emma? Precious Emma, who dated Sean for a season and whined a lot?
(Also, the comment section seems wider than before. I'm a bit thrown by the change.)

It still stands as one of the all-time great matchups of two non-related performers.

Beaches Ain't Shit

I'm just now reading this, Arundel, but I think I can add to the conversation. According to Cybill Shepherd, Elvis wouldn't perform cunnilingus, as, according to him, it was a thing white boys didn't do.
