Weirdly, Devin Faraci, over at CHUD (whom I don't always agree with, though often enough that I keep reading him) has been going on about how they're shooting themselves in the foot by doing this since it's actually a pretty enjoyable movie. Now I am intrigued, where previously I was not.

Seriously? Mom's basement? Weak.

So I'm curious…do you have a friend who watches this show with you regularly? Do they have self esteem problems?

Presumably that stuff is the 10% he doesn't mention…

"Condescension rarely looks as good as it feels." Forget where I heard that, but I loved it.

The bit I was referring to (not sure if it's linked above; no video at work), is where a member of the audience talks about how she and her friends loved her books and obviously jokingly referred to herself and friends as an Ayn Rand "cult", and Rand cuts her off, "Tell that woman to sit down! I am not a cult!".

Ayn Rand Losing Her Shit on "Donahue"
Okay, I'll cop to a brief period of Randroid douchebaggery in my late adolesence. But that's sorta where this shit belongs, I guess.

Gotta love the 'rods…
…that are bitching about realism. Guys, Burn Notice is an obvious throwback to *escapist* adventure shows from the 80s (Magnum PI, A-Team and MacGyver seem the most obvious influences, bit of Rockford files too, maybe), with a very slight contemporary edge. The show obeys its own internal rules

ugh.
Satire, meatheads! Put down the pipe bomb and go look it up.

I wonder if that place is unionized.
"I also enjoyed the slow-motion-crazy John Woo For Dummies climax where Smith and Lawrence shoot it out with the bad guys in what appears to be an explosion factory."

MORE GONE (S6) SPOILERS

I've seen not all but a decent amount of his stuff…
…the way i try to break Spike Lee down for people who are curious or wary is that not all his films are good, but they're almost all interesting. I'm hardly ever bored watching a Spike Lee movie.

SPOILERS FOR AN EPISODE OF ANGEL

Yeah, the pilot-Willow was no great shakes as an actor.

Mr. DBag: No disdain here, that's me too, minus the New York thing. Just acknowledging that it's not exactly novel or untread territory in television comedy, aside from the writers' frequent forays into Wacky Structure Land, but it's executed well in this particular case, and I have a certain affection for good

THIS
is probably my favourite track from Incredibad, due in large part to the fucking awesome beat.

Oh, riiight, cause if you don't like it, it must be objectively bad. I keep forgetting that's how culture works.

What…does that MEAN?

So what magical city do you live in, Slowtroll, where the streets are paved with blowjobs, that is somehow awesomer than NYC?

I just saw this
I was in NYC a couple of weeks ago and saw this. I wasn't aware it had been running so long (though it makes sense, I just hadn't thought about it); there was nothing stale about it, all the performers were having a blast (or were ACTING! like they were). It wasn't a life-changing cultural
