Yay!  I always get excited when I find out that someone is of a similar background. (My family moved to a Polish enclave in the Detroit suburbs, so my chances of running into anyone with even a vaguely French sounding last name were pretty slim.)

I really like Benny, so I am glad that he gets to flex those meaty forearms another day. I would like to say that it's the meaty forearms/lopsided 1930s hat combination that has won me over, but, being Creole, I always have to root for similar-bred characters…  even if he is Cajun.

I'm a resident of our beautiful nation's capital as well, so thanks for your Locals Komplaint Korner! :) The radio station one is forgivable - having a fake station is a good way to avoid legal troubles with real station owners. The others are just sloppy.

I don't begrudge your opinion. I don't share it (my vote goes to "Justified" or "Breaking Bad"), but I think that Homeland is a fine show. The acting is great. Even with far-fetched plot points, the acting sells it.

I like to watch shows like Homeland with the subtitles on (I don't like rewinding when I miss a muttered something or other). Anyway, I cannot tell you how many times I saw the following subtitles: [labored breathing] [heavy breathing] [soft groans] [quickened breathing].

Anything with Peggy Lee is an absolute favorite. :)

She would have looked so much better without all the fillers and injections. They don't make you look young; they just make you look weird.

The normal "Carol of the Bells" is a wonderful, spooky little song that really emphasizes the darkness of Winter solstice season.

My Mom made the whole family go to see a TSO Christmas show a few years ago. (She bought all the tickets, dammit, so you better be grateful, says brother.) It was kind of weird to be among all of those people who, without irony or artifice, were really rocking out to those songs.

I was thinking the same thing. I am pretty good at suspending disbelief, but her ending up at Briarcliff was a "wait - what?" moment that immediately took me out of the story.
