George W. Bush did it!
George W. Bush did it!
A true fear! Didn't he also direct the disastrous remake of All the King's Men, or did he just star in that? Into the Wild definitely had problems, but, all in all, was a fine film.
I don't know if Koreeda can even be called an auteur per se. His films are quite different and I don't know if there's a "typical" one.
I always hear After Life mentioned as his best. It's pretty much the only one I didn't like myself.
I have heard some early reactions, too, and all were overwhelmingly positive. I just think this is the type of movie that would never play well at Cannes.
Definitely a lot weirder, though.
Penn has said if it got a bad reception at Cannes, it may never see the light of day elsewhere.
It's going to be an exploitation flick of some sort, which critics are terrible at judging.
Reviews are going up now. The reactions are medium positive, with a few raves.
It definitely sounds interesting, though it's being compared to Demonlover, which I disliked.
It got booed!
Cool, I JUST watched this a couple of weeks ago. Excellent.
Who can suck his own dick???
I didn't particularly avoid it, it just never really got released here. I think it popped up on Netflix, but I haven't been impressed enough with Arnold to bother with it. I do like both the Wyler and Bunuel versions, but I can't say I could recall anything about the plot even having seen at least two adaptations.
I haven't liked Arnold much either. Red Road was interesting, but unsuccessful, IMO. Fish Tank was definitely good, but not as good as the reviews. Didn't see Wuthering Heights.
It's certainly good, but I think it's one of the Dardennes' least memorable. Here's what else I've seen:
This story sounded like it was going to go Last Tango in Paris at any moment.
There are plenty of references to Allen being attracted to teenage girls in his films, and he obviously slept with Soon-Yi when she was young (but, as far as we know, of age). That's not the same as molesting a child, no matter how much the witch hunters want it to be.
Well it's definitely his looks. And he just seems like an awesome dude. But, yeah, most people just want to see him on tabloid TV and couldn't give a shit about his movies.
The Romans also cultivated a certain plant - can't recall the name of it nowadays - that was a very good natural birth control. It was so sought after that it eventually went extinct from overuse.
