I hate people bitching about the screenplay and lack of character development. People don't appreciate leanness, economy in their films anymore, nor subtlety.

I so enjoyed picking out all the references to the first three films.

He just got into a thing with that one, huh?
I saw Mad Max: Fury Road twice (Thursday and Saturday), the second time mostly because the first screen I saw it on was too small. This might be my favorite action film of all time. It's just so awesome. 10/10, easily, best film of the year so far.
D'Angelo called it a "disasterpiece," which probably translates into Rabin's "fiasco" which probably means D- on the A.V. Club.
It's a tetralogy! Paranoid Park most certainly belongs (I think it's way better than Last Days myself, which is pretty forgettable). Yeah, that was his peak. It's like afterward he totally lost interest in making great art. I was hoping his return to Cannes competition meant a return to form, but apparently not.
I thought they were about equal, honestly (as disgusting a person Penn might be - I don't think Rourke is any better, is he?), but, as a movie, I personally preferred Milk by a lot. The Wrestler felt too obvious to me, but I know I'm in the minority.
Okay, having looked both of them up I do remember them existing but I never bothered to see them. I think I almost rented Restless from the Redbox one time for Mia Wasikowska.
I literally don't remember Restless or Promised Land ever having existed and I pay attention to movies very closely. I assume I read about them when they were released and they got such bad reviews I just never had any interest.
I thought the bros hated MMFR, you know, with Charlize Theron having her period all over Mad Max and all.
Milk may have been a very mainstream Oscar bait, but it was exceptionally well done.
Let's just say Nicolas Sparks' name has come up in like 90% of the reviews I've looked at.
I know, IV's D is one of the kinder reviews I've read.
I definitely use my phone to Wikipedia stuff when I'm watching it, but only at home.
I totally recognized where they were because of Birdman.
I'm glad people are connecting these two scenes. I had the same thought. Godammit, kid, you can read about the damned play after its over. Having your phone shining that bright light is annoying as shit and it's absolutely impolite.
You want I should break his neck?
Hey, Twilight Sparkle, join the Navy!
