WHOOO!
WHOOO!
@avclub-be8c0b0f1e53415a099c9d2a7ab103ce:disqus That's true I reckon, though I've never been so I'm not sure if they give off the BB's vibe.
@avclub-4c56756898d633b36107f305da70351d:disqus Yeah, I shouldn't have used "I reckon" I reckon since I did know that about ARCHER.
Living my whole life so far in NJ! NJ! NJ!, I didn't figure this was in NJ either. It kind of makes sense, I guess. The shore part was the only thing that kept throwing me off though, because for some reason I thought it took place in Chicago. Except you know the beach part didn't really fit, but the rest kind of felt…
He was fine, neither good nor bad.
I have it as a toss-up between SPRING BREAKERS and MISTER LONELY, but I still need to see a couple of his shorts and TRASH HUMPERS. "Umshini" is pretty great too.
And what, exactly, does Korine do?
The best comparisons I have seen have been made to the works of Malick and those of Goddard. Both quite accurate.
Yeah, was just going to say that Sterling Archer Draper Price is the best one I've seen, but this being the AV Club someone beat me to it.
Thanks, I knew he looked familiar. I recognized him from the US version of THE INBETWEENERS. Much like SKINS US it was a show cut down before its time.
What's the name of the guy who played Archie?
Well, he was that guy from a lot of other things before he was that guy from SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, but yeah, that was him.
I mean he's a poor man's Andy Dwyer is like just about every way, but he's still pretty funny most of the time. I like Danny more, but Morgan is funnier.
Thought this was going to be a post that finally called out ENLIGHTENED. Turned out just another post talking shit about GIRLS.
Hmm, I'll continue to skip it for a while. Am interested in what Mia does with her part though, so I'm sure I'll see it eventually.
The sex scenes in this film are super tasteful, and fucking incredibly constructed.
Yeah, I feel like MOPI is GVS's third best film (behind a toss up between PARANOID PARK and ELEPHANT). I need to catch up on his recent output of films that didn't review well or whatever, I still think he's a tremendous talent. Really loved MILK as well, that should have won BP that year.
@avclub-22f737e47d8261297d774f773ea41105:disqus Well, I would agree that the film sets up for that, but there's not really any payoff for it or direct evidence aside from characters saying that. All the times it is manifest in the film (presumably when Charlie first shows up, when he finds India in the woods, and when…
Heh, I'm pretty sure it's more than a bit. However, sadly, Wentworth Miller is hardly a Thornton Wilder.
I think the script doesn't give us enough one way or another to really know. That damned screenplay, really was a bummer especially since PCW brought his A game. I'm still not sure why it evokes the Stoker name and then aggressively avoids any super natural elements or gothic fiction tropes.
